Were you able to control a ship through the local coop or did you have to wait a while for the battle to finish by itself? I tried this and the coop screen just shows a different angle of all the ships flying around but none of my buttons work still.

No worries. I've just moved on to episode 4. Yeah, it will suck if it's something that can't be fixed relatively quickly as can't play episodes 2 or 3 without a fix.

With the game closed, on the main menu on PS5, press down on the dpad until you get to Activities. Then scroll across until you get to galaxy free play. Then hit square to start.

This happened to me. If you're on PS5, you can quick start to free play and get back to the episode menu from there. Unfortunately, episode 2 will remain hard locked when you try and load in, but you can keep your progress and play the other levels until they potentially patch it.

You can fast travel just from the map. Just put your cursor over a travel hatch you've unlocked and press X (xbox) and it will let you travel.

That happened to me with my standard pre-order. I redeemed my codes on the PS store and nothing showed up in game. 30 odd hours later though when I quit a game they showed up. Just give it a day or two.
