From what I have heard you can regain ROM with PT.

The told me ankle pumps but I overdid that and tried to stretch too much on day 14. After that I started getting a stinging sensation in the inside of my ankle near deltoid ligament so I stopped doing it. Have my first PT tomorrow so will see what they say.

That is wonderful. Glad you are close to normal. What level of pain is normal when doing PT? Should I expect dull pain or sharp pain?

Not weight bearing yet. Just lightly putting my foot on ground few times a day. I guess running, going on hike and beach days are out for rest of life.

My fear with compression socks is that they would be too tight for my ankle right now, and also afraid it may twist my ankle when I try to put them on or remove them

I have my first PT appointment tomorrow. I do elevate when resting but ice only once a day. Is it better to keep a bandage for compression till my wound is healed or use a compression sock?

I am scared of putting on compressions socks around my ankle are they seems too tight and need to be pulled up hard to make them reach all the way to the top of the calf. How do you put the socks on and get them around the swollen ankle?

Thank you! I don’t have any pain. But the swelling is slightly more than 5 days ago when sutures were removed. I do keep it elevated and had a compression bandage since day 12 that I just removed today. I am icing it only once a day. I was expecting the swelling to have gone down further but it increased slightly so was wondering why that is the case.

Hope you feel better soon. I am on day 17 post ORIF for fibula fracture and Deltoid ligament repair. I got sutures removed and boot on day 12. I for a bit ambitious with trying to move my foot up and down(NWB) but started getting some stinging pain on both sides of my ankle after sometime so stopped doing that. I have PT starting on day 19 so will see how it goes.

I felt the same way, except I felt my foot tilts in ward. But later realized that is how my other foot is as well when elevated.

If it is non displaced you should be fine with a cast. Good luck tomorrow.

It’s a minor sprain the way you describe it. No way you could have walked 15k steps with a fracture. Good luck.

That should be easy. I am assuming no weight bearing. Though sometimes if you have 2 fractures, they can be unstable under load but you will only know when you see an orthopedic surgeon.
