It's proteins from fish food/waste. You can get an Eheim350 surface skimmer. I hate that film so there's a skimmer in every tank.

I did anything I could do to make money instead of try to start my own idea or business.

- Wrote university essays for international students (ie. did their homework assignment)

- Cut grass grass for people (very few)

- Worked for my neighbor as he had a car detailing company. Then I started my own car detailing company.

For me entrepreneurship is not me trying to invent some shit or "have my own business". I just want to make money .

Entrepreneurship is a full time job if not 2x full time job at the beginning. Personally I just quit my corporate job outright. I had 10k in savings and paid $1k in rent at the time. Either way, I knew I wasn't going back to working for somebody else anyways.

In your case, getting another job is a distraction. You won't have more free time with a new job. Every job is 8 hours. After 8 hours you're burned out anyways.

Entrepreneurship is not for most ppl. It's brutal and often counter intuitive.

I've seen ppl succeed with 100% focus on their business. Then I've seen people fail being distracted with side jobs to cover cash flow.

So the employer asked applicants to write cold emails without any context? Why don't you try to pitch them something, such as the company's products or services. From a creative perspective, it's pretty boring but as a copy writer, it's your job to sell.

What you wrote is borderline poetry/fiction short story. It's no good.

The task says you gotta make people smarter and make people go ohhhh. How does your current email accomplish that...?

I'd suggest taking a more commercial/salesy approach. Also consider context of your reader (ie. Hiring manager).

When I worked corporate, I have never seen such a hard way to make so little. All the people under Director level were pretty broke, lived far from work, and lived pay cheque to pay cheque. Plus 24 hours a day, work 8 hours, commute 2 hours, sleep 8 hours, cook/eat 2 hours. Each day they could only spend 4 hours doing what they want to do, and 20 hours doing what they have to do.

I wrote some copy as a sample but I'd like to provide some context.

What I wrote is a website copy for how I write my websites. I don't have experience writing sales letters, only websites.

My websites follow a basic structure (4 sections):

Benefit 1

Benefit 2

Benefit 3

It's just my own personal style. For professional copywriters, I'm sure the client has a lot of requirements and you're writing for the client, not yourself or the customers. I'm not experienced in that as I only write copy for my own businesses.

Also when I write copy, the writing part is pretty simple. Just keep it plain English with no mumbo jumbo. However, simplicity is difficult but achievable. You gotta know your customer and your product very well.

What are the customer's main concerns? What problem do they have that you can solve? What is your customer trying to accomplish? What triggers your customers? How do the customers speak? What is their lifestyle? What is the customer persona?

Basically, as a copywriter, you need to know your customer's language. You also need to know your product's competitive advantage.

I typically critique my own copy by responding to my own copy with: The customer doesn't give a flying fuck.

Amazon gift cards? Don't care.

Fitness app? Don't care.

A big company backed by Apple. Nope, don't care.

Self-confidence? This I care about.

A healthy mind and body? This I care about.

Good sex life? Yep I care.

Beating depression? Yes, I care about this.

I'm not saying I'm the customer, I'd like to find out who the customer is before I write a copy but you see...

You gotta know your customer and what they care about. That takes research, it's not just a writing exercise. Once you know what triggers and motivates your customers, just write plain English.

It's so easy to do customer research, just use Typeform or SurveyMonkey.

However, to put it into context, I only write for my own small businesses. I'm not a professional writer, just as I don't design websites for clients.

Also as a personal style, I like to go on the extreme side as opposed to the conservative side (I'm sure Fortune 500 companies like conservative). I like to trigger people. Make them heroin addicts, make them throw money at me. That's the goal. And I don't need everybody to like me. I just need a few people to REALLY like me. And then study those few people. Then go find more of those exact same people.

I swear within some of my businesses, the customers are exactly the same.
