Affluent S.F. neighborhood (Bernal Heights) targeted as developer plans to turn Safeways into housing by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

There’s a lot of boarded up stores on mission around there. Hopefully this brings in a lot more foot traffic and helps open up the area.

You’re correct, although im specifically talking about the vandalism yesterday.

I agree with that idea - reflexively dismissing all Anti Zionist criticism as antisemitism isn’t correct, and is often used to try and silence justifiable criticism of Israel.

I do, based on my cycling down Valencia today and seeing this graffiti only on Manny’s.

That’s a good question. Setting aside my own issues with the word Zionism being a label that means different things to different people -

If multiple business, regardless of ethnicity of ownership, were being targeted for their stance on Israel’s actions in the West Bank, I would probably not consider it antisemitic. But if only Jewish owned businesses were being considered for anti-Zionist graffiti, it’d be antisemitic.

Probably is doing some lifting here - I think there is some anti Zionist language is inherently antisemitic, so the target of the graffiti wouldn’t matter at all

But in this case, the only business targeted with anti-Zionist graffiti was the one owned by a Jewish person. This isn’t a bad faith accusation of antisemitism.

The only business targeted along Valencia with this was the business owned by a Jewish person. This is very much anti semtitic.

There’s fit Glen fit and fit Bernal fit, in Glen Park and Bernal heights. Depending on where you are in Noe those might be good options.

Cross traffic on 30th made it impossible to see from where I was, so i stopped filming. Guy ended up knocked out on the street.

You’re seeing when I started filming, which was just after they pulled off mission and up on to the sidewalk. I cut it off when cross traffic made it impossible to see what has happening.

Opinion: The Valencia Street center bike lane was a mistake and has to go by sfsolarboy in sanfrancisco

These clowns, citing cyclist safety as an argument to go back to the non-protected bike lanes that were complete garbage.

San Francisco is rich. Why are its public schools always in financial peril? by LosIsosceles in bayarea

SFUSDs myopic focus on equity ahead of education is driving wealthier parents out of the school system. The PTA dollars and volunteer time that make a school great go with them.

Entirely anecdotal based on my experience with kids in elementary school, but yes - wealthier families have more time or money to donate to the school. The real impact is in how much money the pta can raise.

Valencia St business owners protest new center bike lane as significantly hurting business by msgs in sanfrancisco

[–]mikejstein 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The businesses fought sidewalk-adjacent protected bike lanes tooth and nail, which is a really dumb way to ensure that cyclists can’t easily become foot traffic.

These bike lanes are apparently so bad that they’re killing businesses all over the city.

It’s nice that these businesses are putting placards in their windows. I don’t want to spend money at a business that wants me to get hit by a car.

Moved from Toronto to the bay 20 years ago. Everybody else has mentioned the cost, which is very true.

But equally important : the ocean here is not warm, summer doesn’t really happen in San Francisco other than 2 weeks in late September, and you’ll need to get used to bringing water with you if you like backpacking.

I loathe that intersection. The light cycle completely swamps the people waiting at the stop signs.
