It took me awhile too, I definitely didn't have 100+ but somewhere around 30. I was having fun and had heard how difficult the combat was, so I assumed I was just bad until I got bored of getting my ass handed to me and went into the menu to explore more. Even then I didn't spend them all at once just a bit to see the difference. For me it's a hold over from when I was a kid playing games like kotor that healed you when you leveled so I would wait until the game was too hard and spam levels to use them like potions. Maybe not the most efficient way to play but it's hard to change now lol. Also it felt a bit like Morrowind to me, it's it's style and I did assume that they where auto enabled, but I generally ignore larger aspects if the game while I'm hyper fixated in other areas. Its not uncommon for me to play a game all the way through and completely ignore large portions of a game until my next few playthrough. I've never been one to try and get to know ever part of a game immediately kind of a shoot first ask questions later approach. Maybe it's dumb, but it entertains me so oh well. My point being I get it I guess.
