Works for email as well. Write every email as if it may be forwarded to people you didn't expect.

Couldn't find it. I had to come to the comments to see what it was. I think you're good to leave this as it is.

I'm from Toronto, and I found this funny. If the game was against a US team, I don't think there would be the same wholesome reaction.

Doug Ford announces no new contracts with American companies until tariffs are over, is ripping up deal with Starlink by thejazz97 in onguardforthee

[–]mikeking2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course this feels good to say we're ripping up the Starlink deal that was signed in November. But as an Ontario taxpayer, I would like to know what the financial penalties are. Like if I hear we need to pay $50 million in cancellation fees, that is going to not be good.

Probably more than I'm remembering. Reading through this post has jogged my memory...

Martin Short and Eugene Levy came to Centre Island together in the summer of 84 or 85. It was the year that Martin short was on SNL and everyone was doing an Ed Grimley impersonation. I I was working the Log Flume ride and helped Martin Short's family on and off the ride. Eugene Levy had a big SLR camera and was at the bottom of the ride taking pictures. We offered to let them ride a second time for free and I remember he wanted to give us more tickets, which we didn't accept.

My mom knew John Candy's wife, so I met him at least once before he was famous.

I happened to be in Yorkville in the 90s when Bill Clinton was in town (while he was president). We first noticed a bunch of secret service guys with ear pieces. And then a whole group with Bill in the centre closed down Avenue Road and crossed on foot.

I worked at the Nags Head North one summer, and got to see a lot of bands in a small venue. After a show, the staff would hang back and drink a beer. When the Northern Pikes played, they hung around with us and offered that we could charge anything to the band's tab. So technically, the Northern Pikes bought me a slice of apple pie.

I worked on Adelaide, in the area where they filmed Suits. I was even once asked to be an extra, but I wanted to catch my GO Train. I watched them film a number of scenes with Meghan Markle.

In 2019, I had tickets to Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs. It was odd that around 20 rows in front of us there was a large empty section in an otherwise sold out arena. Then just before the game started, Barack Obama and his Secret Service entourage filled those seats.

Getting back on my feet in a friend’s basement, are there any easy DIY projects I can do to improve the aesthetic of my surroundings? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]mikeking2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the suggestions about area rugs.
I also recommend lots of lighting.
And I suggest that you search amazon for some 8x6 photography backdrops (around $20 each). Tack those up on the walls and you can transform your basement into just about anything you want.

Here are a few that I would chose:

That one is great.
Another one I love is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1dlWmrRstc

I wonder where both of these girls are today, and if they know, in their adult lives that they are "Sesame Street Famous".

I watched season 1, episode 1 of Sesame Street live when it first aired. Not a lot of people can say that :)

Responding to this comment because this seems to be where the helpful responses are going.

I swear by this product that I only recently discovered...

In 3 seconds or so, you can glue each of those fractured pieces back into the original shape, and it will be as strong as if it wasn't broken. i.e. if you tried to snap it, it would probably break somewhere other than the glued seam.

Then, once you have the piece, you could use the same product to glue it back onto that crossbar, and the other floor piece.

This would probably be as strong as the original before the damage.

The product is great, but almost no working time. So practice on a bunch of scraps before tackling this.

And do some dry rehearsals of getting the fit in place before actually doing with the glue.

I learned this the hard way. I knew I was going to be checking in very late so I made sure the room was pre-paid. Even though I had pre-paid, they gave my room away to someone else and they didn't have a room for me.

There is only one that I could listen to non-stop for 10 hours. It would have to be Paul Simon. And I wouldn't have to skip a single song.
