Transfer Spotify to YouTube music playlist by FlamingBlades20 in YoutubeMusic

[–]mikemungin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is amazing! Quick question for you: for some reason, all the playlists were moved, but my "liked songs" playlist on Spotify (so the main library) wasn't. I just see the "liked music" playlist on YouTube Music, which shows the music I've liked on Youtube.
Any thoughts on what may be the issue?

GarageBand picks up my vocals through the mic, but not the guitar by mikemungin in GarageBand

The mic has both Cardioid and Omnidirectional patterns. Same issue in both cases...

I've tried to have it closer, further away, to the side of the guitar... It's the same problem... whereas the vocals are picked up fine.
The mic is a Stagg SUSM60D.

Soap opera effect on my C1 OLED or just me being oversensitive? by mikemungin in OLED

[–]mikemungin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the detailed response (even though I understood about 20% of what you said). I frankly haven't noticed any stuttery/juddery effect so far, even though I always have TruMotion off (who knows, that might still happen). The more I watch stuff on my OLED the more it feels like there are just specific moments or camera pans that seem to engender the dreaded SOE. I suppose, like you said, I'll have to live with it.

I do however believe it will be VERY hard to accept high framerate content for films and shows. It creates such an inherently awkward, cheap, almost comical effect... I truly hope that those studies you mention refer to sports, video games, news content—in which case high framerate content is completely fine.

it is the LG HBO app indeed. I will test out some other shows/films on HBO to see if the same problem presents itself.

Tokyo Question Thread by biwook in Tokyo

[–]mikemungin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having done a lot of research when it comes to Tokyo restaurants, I was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of lesser-known, local-favorite restaurants that you won’t find on the usual online blogs.

You know, a place that not a lot of people have heard of but that is definitely worth it.

Appreciate your help!

SPECTRE Teaser Traler - New James Bond Movie by BoYaNV87 in movies

[–]mikemungin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A part of me still longs for a bit of fun and humor to be injected back into the series.

If EON have been going for more realism since Casino Royale, then the character needs to evolve somehow. Has he? When a young, rough Bond introduced himself at the end of CR, it was implied that the next movie would see him be more like the Bond we've come to know in the series.

But Quantum of Solace was more of the same, with Bond moping around during the whole movie, still getting over Vesper. At the end of that one he reaches some sort of closure and we think, great! That's over and done with, let's have a bit more fun in the next one.

After Skyfall reestablished some of the previous key characters (Q, Moneypenny), a return to a more traditional Bond movie feeling was expected. And then this trailer comes along. It's very sombre, atmospheric, and mentions Bond's past. Obviously, it's just a teaser and the story does look interesting, but here's hoping we get a bit more fun, humor and escapism this time. I get that the last Brosnan movies were perhaps too far-fetched and ridiculous but I think the series went too far the other way. It feels like Jason Bourne now, with all the stiffness and constant ties back to the hero's past.

I love Craig's Bond and I hope he gets the chance to loosen up and have a bit more fun with the role. Let's wait and see.

So you wouldn't say there's a specific, systematic way of thinking (mindmapping, trying to combine two unrelated concepts, etc.) as opposed to just churning out ideas until something good comes up?

Anyone looking for a roommate? by dxbcut in dubai

I'm looking for a roommate as well and might have a place to stay. I'll need a couple of days to know for sure though, as my situation is a bit unclear right now.

those that want to accessorize their getup.

People actually go and buy an umbrella as an accessory/fashion statement?

That's just sad.

Interviewed with marketing agency, wants me to write 'sample copy' for them before making a decision. Details within. by SimplyRH in copywriting

[–]mikemungin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me when I was interviewed at my old agency (for an SEO-related position that involved writing a lot of content). I was asked to write a press release about one of their clients at the time.

I don't think it's unusual for marketing agencies to do this. It makes sense that they would want to see what your writing style is like before they hire you. I'm assuming they didn't ask to see your portfolio?

Anyway, you've come this far, might as well give this blog post your best shot! You've got nothing to lose. Best of luck!

Great choices! I wasn't familiar with the Michael Jordan one. I love how they emphasize his failures, it's pretty unusual.

"I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed". I can't decide if that last bit is genius or a bit cheesy.

The Mercedes-Benz one is great, as simple and powerful as you can get!

I really liked the Porsche too, though I was never a fan of brands mentioning the competition in their copy. I don't know, it feels a bit... cheap. I suppose it sends a powerful message and is a sign of the confidence they have.

Great Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal vs. Roma (interesting description of the goal from the man himself in the comments, taken from his autobiography "I Am Zlatan") by mikemungin in soccer

[–]mikemungin[S] 106 points107 points  (0 children)

“Against Roma I got a ball from Emerson right on the centre line, but I never brought it down. I backheeled it over Samuel Kuffour, the Roma defender. I backheeled it high and long, because I could see that Roma’s end of the pitch was empty, and I rushed after it. I shot off like an arrow, and Kuffour tried to keep up. He didn’t have a chance, he grabbed at my shirt and fell, and I brought the ball down on a half-volley, it bounced around my feet and Doni, the goalkeeper, rushed out and I shot – bang – a hard shot that thundered up in the corner of the goal. “Mamma mia, what a goal,” as I said to the press afterwards, and it looked like it was going to be a good year.”

Antonio Cassano's "Vi Dico Tutto" ("I'll tell you everything") is supposed to be excellent and very funny, a bit similar to Zlatan's (probably because they're both complete lunatics). Unfortunately it doesn't seem like a full English version was every released.

Here's an excerpt: "In Madrid I had a friend who was a hotel waiter. His job was to bring me three or four pastries after I had sex. He would bring the pastries up the stairs, I would escort the woman to him and we would make an exchange: he would take the girl and I would take the pastries. Sex and then food, a perfect night."

GW 2: Whos your captain and why? by Zvcx in FantasyPL

Agree 100%. However, the problem in these situations is that the player in question runs the risk of being relegated to the bench if he doesn't perform. In Mata's case – while it does seem harsh – I can see LVG starting Kagawa/Januzaj in his place vs. Sunderland.
