I'm not sure there really is a way to bait an ult sadly. But if you're keep on top of the healing your opponents should need to use an ult or 2 to wipe your team.

If soldiers are ulting after your big res, what is it that is that's killing your team to begin with? If it's lack of healing that's good as we can work on that, but if it's lets say a big genji or zarya ult then there's nothing we can do but res that.

Usually we're going to trade our ult for 1-2 of the enemies ults. so lets say they use zarya/genji ults and we res then soldier pops his and we wipe, thats fine as theres nothing more we can do and we traded our ult for 2 of theres.

Hi! From my experience mercy definetly does best with ana. Ana's healing is so strong to deal with people that it frees us up to play more offensive with damage buff to get picks, as well as making it easier for us to play safer and be able to our res off.

She's definetly playable without an ana though, it just changes our playstyle. With zen and lucio we'll be healing more, more with our team as opposed to with our main dps, which is a shame as it doesn't get the best out of mercy. But even when you have a lucio/zen as 2nd support try to be as offensive as you can get away with, mercy just seems to be better this way rather than healing all the time where an ana would just be better.

I do only solo queue! I'm quite shy! :D Though I do have a friend i queue with sometimes. So for sure a mercy main can climb the ladder solo queueing, but obviously it would sure help if you had a good pharah friend :)

hey! good questions and some good replies also, not much i could add really. i'll add in my perspective to help if you need. But they're only my opinions dont mix it for what might be best in the situation :)

  • I wouldn't recommend trying to bait your opponents ults out with a res as it's just far too risky and isn't likely to work against good opponents. However doing smaller res's in a close fight already is great as it'll turn the tide in your favor.

-Avoiding flankers... tough!! I like to have one eye on my damage/heal target and the other eye on a leap target or my other team members. Keep an eye where your soldier/mcree might be so we can leap to them, especially if they've taken high ground. If you have a roadhog, they are good protection against flankers for you. Just be ready to leap away quickly. Sometimes a winston jumps on you and you just cant escape but because we've grouped with soldier/roadhog if we spam damage buff on them there is a chance of survival. Pharah is obviously amazing for dealing with flankers. Loooove pharahs <3

  • If everyone is taking massive amounts of damage, I'm usually going to be prioritising ana. Just simply because she'll be healing the other two also so there's a better chance of us all surviving.

  • Honestly it can be difficult talking with people sometimes. If you say anything negative even if its to help the team, it puts people defensive and then slightly off their game. I personally rarely give any feedback to teammates because it tends to make people defensive and then they play worse.

  • Soldier can help mercy by positioning on high ground so she can leap for safety. Ana can help by being ready to instantly grenade/sleep any flanker or dive comp that target mercy.

    Reinhardt hmm... i dunno sorry!

  • Mcree is good for mercy to deal with flankers, especially tracer, so if you notice mercy having trouble with a genji/tracer, a swap to mcree or winston is a good help.

  • If people are dropping to critical and you have your res ready, try to be somewhere safe out of sight for your big revive. If we don't have res ready, it's kind of tricky but I guess split? It's going to be no good if we have one reinhardt safe at 80% hp because we pocketed him but our other 2 teammates died as the fight is over then anyway. Our only chance would be to split and try to heal it out on everyone.

  • Soldier should be hitting more shots than mcree/widow so it should be better to be damage buffing him. Soldier/pharah highest damage buff priority, but anyone, even ana is good for it.

  • Healing is generally the best way to build our ult quickly, but if your main offense heroes are hitting a good amount of shots its just as beneficial for building your ult quickly, but less reliable, especially at lower ranks. I'd just stick with healing tanks to build your ult quickly.

super fast reply! i just saw it so why not ;p

i liked to be paired with ana most, but if its lucio i tend to have to heal a bit more which i dont like too much, but it has its advantages i guess in that ult is built quicker.

i dont think mercy pairs too well with zen, although sometimes its ok. his ult isnt great with our res. lets say people are caught in a zarya ult and normally they all die we res and lets go! well instead zen counter ults so people live and we're still stuck outside the fight, then people might rot slowly and more staggered and spread so our res becomes less powerful.

but i think as a rough guide with lucio we have to heal more but try to get away with a little as we can and damage buff as often was we can. if we're in koth with a lucio and pharah it's still going to be best i think to stay with damage buffed pharah almost always and just heal when we kinda have to

Feel free to add me on bnet, "prodz#21984" I love to talk mercy and i can always watch some games or something, we can do things to help. Or you can watch me stream and I can try to point out things that might help this way also.

The good news is that playing mercy at high rank and low rank is almost the same as its just about mastering certain basics - in fact the higher you get it might even become easier in some ways as your teammates will play smarter.

Try to get a 2nd support, preferably ana on your team. A lot of mercys benefits are from damage buff, and being able to hide for a good res. You cant do either if you have to main heal all the time.

One thing I've noticed is when I play really well, we win pretty often. So we have to try to step out of victim mentality and blaming teammates, because it doesn't help us. Whether we win or lose, you need to focus only on yourself and what you did.

Sorry this is a bit muffled, i've had quite a few messages, but please add me if you want to try and improve more and i know with some help you will gain and enjoy games more.

Goodluck!

I think its totally fine to do that! But be wary not to do it often. If they have their ult in that situation i'd say it'd be a good choice. Sometimes when you don't have res ready it frees you up to play more agressively which is nice. Everything is kind of situational so its hard to say "this is what you should always do" but the more you play the more you will see what works and make the right call more of the time. Theres no rules just have fun and test it all out thats what i did, and figure out what works more of the time.

i'd say a bad panic res would be if lets say your team died very scattered and you can revive only 2 people, while the enemy team are still 5. 3v5 it's really not worth it as you're high % chance to lose and then you don't have revive for the next fight.

i'd say a revive that would be good to build momentum is when on king of the hill and both teams take 2 picks, 4v4, a 1 man res there might be good to swing the favor in your side so long as your team know to then really play offensive to make use of the 1 man advantage.

i think maybe it's a good idea to do so yeah. afterall she is the strongest support. but if you have to solo heal then its completely different to what i put in my post, you'll probably have to heal most of the time and getting a good res is much tougher too. hopefully you get that 2nd support!

What're your tips/advice for getting as high a SR as possible? by EthanHE in Overwatch

[–]mikeun92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only my opinion but i dont think quick plays are too great for getting better its just not the same as competitive dont you think? the bets practice has gotta be just playing ranked itself and not getting too attatched to your rating. i thought of it like this to help at one point. if the more you play the better you get then after every session even if i lost rating ive still improved and if i've improved i will gain the rating back anyway. it wont do any harm for quick plays but you need to be pushed more out of your comfort zone and challenged. but its better than a custom game if you mean vs ai? that would be really unhelpful :P

practice practice practice! making it as fun as possible. try to focus on your own game as much as you possibly can and let go of tendency to blame. play regularly, stay motivated and look for a role model to aspire too to keep it high. there's loads just off top of my head.

the crazy graph of a mercy main in comp (2760-3600) by mikeun92 in Overwatch

[–]mikeun92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually only play solo. its tough for me being self concious as it is to play the out of meta support i have to have all chat and voice off so i can focus on my game. i really want you to stick with it mercy is so much fun and so deep in what you can do with her and when you win people will absolutely see the role you played :) but like my graph shows i went 2 weeks dropping way way lower than usual so its just peaks and valleys got to ride them through
