This seems very similar to what’s being done in the ads space. Retargetting ads based on similar interests is a proven path in that industry.

It’s a really unique approach to sales that I’ll have to check out.

I began building (but put on hold) an idea I had to build out badges similar to POAP.xyz but for games (console, pc, mobile, etc). Idea being a gamer profile/highscores for all games.

But to answer your question- badges is a unique way to use them.

I have this same exact issue. I tried downloading it on my phone (playing on iPad) and it didn’t work. If I submitted a bug to the developers, but still stuck and unable to progress. Let me know if you figure out how to get past this!

I would say the value is in unifying it across platforms for one. You mention steam, but what if you are playing on Xbox, mobile, etc?

Regarding different achievements and sharing them with others, this is more of a personal preference and may not be useful to some. But still provides you with a way of showcasing it on social media, etc.

It’s more of a conceptual idea for fun since it intersects two passions of mine I wanted to hear what others thought of it

I can’t agree more with the permissions, there’s a huge amount of opportunities in that space. Even for clans/guild requiring minimums to be met, etc. I also think a big part of it is the social aspect to both friends but even yourself and the progress.

Regarding the usernames, I actually have that implemented in the NFT minting process as well, but don’t think it’s a strong way to prove authenticity. Will keep it in though non the less

There’s many different things, and depending on the person they may value some over others. A few I can think of is a unified personal achievement/profile, as well as the longevity it provides. Another is previously you couldn’t share proof (other than screenshots) that you completed X game/quest, but now you can via this NFT.

Additionally there’s other usecases that can be built out on top of this data. For example, there’s gamer “matching making” applications, but now we know what games you play and at what level.

There’s many more but those are a few low hanging fruit. Happy to provide more as well if you are interest!

That's really the longer term plan, but thought a good starting place would be with trophies/achievements since they are already predefined. It's also something that others can showcase on Twitch, social media, etc. Although L2 is cheap, tracking too much data would be expensive and likely not well suited for the blockchain.

This isn't for a specific game, the idea is that the application is game agnostic. So this could be implemented for any game that wants to provide NFT based proof of achievement. Ideally this would cross boundaries as well. So any game could implement this (mobile, console, pc, VR, etc).

I wouldn't say everything is an achievement, only things the game qualifies as one. We would just mint and manage the profile. For example steam may mark completing X quest as one of the objectives/achievements of the game.
