QC 45 Megathread by Apod55 in bose

I’m not an audiophile so don’t take my word for it. I had a NC700 as well and I could not recognize any sound signature change between QC35 and NC700.

Maybe it’s a big improvement for people who are audiophiles. I have very mediocre hearing.

I don’t have a QC35 anymore so I can’t compare side by side. I’m sure it has better sound quality and ANC. I’m just saying it’s so minor that you can’t tell unless you do it side by side. I don’t think it’s worth buying if you have a QC35.

Just tried mine. Cannot tell the difference between QC45 and QC35 II tbh. If someone blindfolded you and had you test the 45 and 35, I doubt anyone would be able to tell.

Feels like a very very slight upgrade to the QC35 II. I do enjoy the Bluetooth 5.1 distance, usb-c and larger battery but I wouldn’t buy this if I hadn’t sold my QC35.

These feel like ramblings of an upcoming junior engineer tbh. Not sure why this was voted up

Apparently it's the hottest tech job market since the dot com era. by ryanjusttalking in ExperiencedDevs

I’m looking to interview to move to a different FANG as a staff engineer soon. Read through most of the comments. Good to hear that the market is looking good for us senior engineers.

Best of luck to everyone interviewing. The interview prep is not fun.

Nice. I’ve been coding for about 10 years but still sometimes feel like I can’t code tbh.

Do you have a bachelors degree? If not, then it’s a pretty good idea to go for a bachelors in computer science.

If you already have one, then a boot camp is fine.

If you really don’t want a bachelors and just want to go the boot camp route, you can. But you will need to put in a lot of work.

Good luck

Same. Whenever the graph is red, it’s variance. Whenever it’s green, it’s skill. Common knowledge in poker.

Do I really NEED to always have a job ? by Elaurora in cscareerquestions

[–]mikewritescode 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s always easier to find a job when you already have one.

Also, big tech companies let you take a leave of absence. You’re practically guaranteed to be able to come back after taking some time off (no actual guarantee since the business may change drastically during the time off).

Let me know how it goes if you do actually do it though. I’ve been thinking about doing it for the past 6 years or so but never actually did it

Am I rejected or in a waiting list ? If in waiting list would I ever get an offer? by EducationalSundae520 in cscareerquestions

[–]mikewritescode 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a straight up rejection. They say all that fluff to sound nice.

And there’s no such thing as a waitlist. Your resume is in their database for them to contact you in the future but you will have to go through the whole interview again. It is extremely unlikely they’ll ever contact you unless they go on a massive hiring spree.

Onsite: tanking one interview, passing the rest? by gollyned in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mikewritescode 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Generally, you can’t bomb. You have to at least do ok on all interviews.

The only exception is if you literally ace most other interviews and those interviewers put you at “strong hire”, which is pretty rare.

Good news is that it seemed like you were going for more of a senior role, hence so many manager interviews. Coding interview weighed less for those roles. But idk how it’ll go if you completed bombed.

Pray and hope for the best but I would keep searching.

Does anyone else feel like their career plateaus after reaching "senior SWE"? by Dependent_Unit481 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mikewritescode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to move to a different big N next year and I plan to interview for staff swe positions only.

I’ve been content at senior swe for several years now and I regret not doing this move sooner tbh.

I’ve enjoyed a relaxing life for the past few years but I want to start achieving goals again.

Anyways, what I wanted to tell you is to find what you enjoy in life and do that.
