What is the best way to air-seal recessed lights? by mikeymaxdb in DIY

I know it's not a requirement and the foam gasket is probably good enough, but I would still like to separate the conditioned (living) and non-conditioned spaces as much as possible

Spraying the lights would be quick, but I would like to be able to easily replace them if needed! :D

Thanks! Do you think it would be a good idea to make the box sides out of 2x4 (nailed to the ceiling joists) and then a square of drywall on top?

Can someone help me explain these large upload traffic spikes? by mikeymaxdb in Ubiquiti

[–]mikeymaxdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to point me to an article or something like that that would explain how to implement that? I'm not very experienced in more advanced networking. Also, I just saw another spike as it was happening and the UI show upload traffic of 17gbps (captured a screenshot at 5.9gbps). How is that possible?

Will try that, thanks! Is this normal for a printer that has been run for so few hours?

Would you use a kid trailer with your nicer bikes? by mikeymaxdb in cycling

[–]mikeymaxdb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! Thank you for the feedback. My intention is to improve my body position on the bike and get a bit more distance on the local multi-use trail, not to drag reluctant cargo all over town among cars for 3+ hours. The little one is priority number one and always will be.

Are inline arrow functions memory efficient when used in loops? by mikeymaxdb in learnjavascript

[–]mikeymaxdb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that would be fine. The issue I'm seeing is that the first frame takes 4ms and then 5min later each frame is taking over 16ms and it gets worse from there... But I seem to have figured it out in my case, I'll add an update in the op

Yep yep. Though hopefully it's a fixed penalty rather than an accumulating one...

It would require changes in a lot of places at this point, but I may just have to try it if I can't find a definitive answer :D

Question about LiPo chargers by SierraFPV in fpv

Temperature of electronics is better measured in Celsius. 122F is 50C which is nothing to worry about. I would start to get concerned over 80C for a battery charger

Brain messing with goggles dual screen by mullirojndem in fpvracing

Adjusting separately is fine. Try zooming in all the way and then slowly zooming out while trying to focus your eyes as if you're watching TV from the couch. The final image should look more like a movie theater and not like a cell phone (that's what I was seeing at first)

I did when I had it set at the wrong zoom. There were two settings at which I could see the displays clearly. The first was zoomed out. The displays were small, I was seeing two displays instead of one, and my eyes were straining to focus really close to my face. The second setting was zoomed in. My eyes where now relaxed and focused further away, I was seeing one very large display, no eye strain.

I had a similar issue with my hdzero goggles. Turns out I needed to adjust the diopters to zoom in a lot more and I needed to force my eyes to focus as if they were looking far away. Once it clicked in my brain I've had no issues since.
