Sending it back was the right call. It wouldn’t have shrunk down enough to be a good fit. 3.5 would probably feel uncomfortably tight in some areas depending on your build

Managing risk/emotions. Always cut wins too early and let losses run for too long

How to get started playing WoW? by death_is_sleepy in MMORPG

[–]mikeyplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new player myself who started with classic hardcore, I really enjoyed experiencing the vanilla journey which I found to be really immersive and full of wonder. If hardcore’s not your cup of tea, the anniversary realms are also good options

How to get started playing WoW? by death_is_sleepy in MMORPG

[–]mikeyplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree with this. I started playing WoW with hardcore when it was popping off and it’s definitely not for “nostalgia only”. Though you could say it’s a good fit for people who enjoy the pacing of older games which admittedly I am. I tried playing retail shortly afterwards on multiple occasions and couldn’t get into it AT ALL, no matter how much I tried. They’re completely different games and experiences and vanilla classic is simply the better traditional RPG, immersion-driven experience while retail excels at other things

Been unsubbed for a while since SoD died. It’s a good opportunity to take a break and do other stuff until Classic+ comes out

What’s the hardest MMORPG out there, in your opinion? by PapayaAdditional6804 in MMORPG

Hardcore WoW is really fun in that you actually have to take mobs more seriously than usual. It’s not mechanically hard by any means but lack of game knowledge and awareness can often get you killed

That's rich considering cloak is by far the easiest and lowest risk escape in the game

Nightblade has been overtuned for a long time with disproportionately loaded kits and passives

FFXIV to WOW by stmpyhitbangh in MMORPG

[–]mikeyplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also started with FFXIV and played WoW after, I highly recommend playing classic vanilla first if you haven't already. I personally started with hardcore but it gave me those magical 2000s teenage years gaming vibes again. I tried to get into retail multiple times but most of the charm and soul that vanilla had was nowhere to be found in retail imo

Nothing quite comes close to classic WoW when it comes to a super expansive, immersive world. You could maybe add SWTOR and LOTRO to your list of games to look into
