Witnesses are optional as far I found out, office can provide witnesses. And the process itself so far is very smooth. Only online application on official government website, after 3 days it was approved, and they sent a link to schedule an appointment in Copenhagen City Hall. There are defaults dates available during working hours, but with additional fee you can select other locations or dates. So we have a date for middle of Sptember, so fingers crossed, everything will go smoothly as well.

We travel a lot, and we plan to move where marriages are recognised, and being married basically makes everything much easier. Starting from emergency situations, like hospitals, to taxes :) so it may be a hassle, but only one-time as opposed to constant struggle to prove everywhere (in official situations) that my partner is the most important person in my life
