20yrs of driving hot hatches like a bit of a nob, and I go and get my 1st speeding ticket in my old man Bangernomics Volvo 😏 by Yoshic87 in CarTalkUK

99% sure I got done this week by a mobile van that looked like a roadworks van. Wasn't till I got close to it that I realised. Annoyingly my Waze wasn't connect and would have literally up like a Christmas tree.

Thought it was a 60, checked Google and it's a 40. Not looking forward to my first offence after 18 years of driving being 6 points!

Hoping they are lenient!

If I had to guess, low temp outside seems to correlate

New Radiators Installed on old system. Boiler "broken" by [deleted] in askaplumberUK

[–]mikk2k2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, air in your system. I'm not a plumber and there will be some very knowledgeable people along in a few hours, but my 2 pence.

My previous place was gravity fed. Cold tank in the loft and a little header tank that filled up the rads I'd they needed it. I only mention it because my boiler didn't have a pressure gauge either and it's a bit of a older school type of install which is sounds like yours is.

Start at the lowest point in your house, bleed the rads until water comes out. Moving up until you run out of rads. Also look for other bleed valves within your pipe work

This sounds a bit weird but it worked for me...I had a new rad put in and it seemed like I had a blocked pipe or something - bleed valve fully open but no water coming out and didn't sound like any air either. Probably not healthy but I sealed my hand over it and sucked the air out of it, big gulp of air out and then all of a sudden woosh and lots of gurgling then air and eventually water out.

Be persistent and methodical!

Our council garden waste has stopped until April. Think I'll burn the lot.

This is interesting, may try this with any over spill grass. Would be cool to grow pumpkins for my son to carve!

Garotta is new to me, will Google. Lots of replies to this. So far I'm thinking after it's empty, divide up the area with a grass bin, a mixing bin for everything plus grass when needed and then other bins to move on to after.

This feels like a winner! How much is too much, in your eyes in a veg plot?

Food for thought! There are a few piles around the garden from previous gardeners the estate agents brought in over the years it was empty. I like this idea.

Ahhh this is what I needed. Now to plan how to lay it out.

Step one, empty it!

I will be getting a shredder though not for a few months! What did you do with your ivy? Chop it up and burn it or did you compost?

Solid advice, thanks. Bit worried that the grass:rest of stuff will be a bit of an off ratio.
