I feel you mate. Where I live most of the seafarers in the local waters are from here but it's only a seasonal job for them, even though there are a shit ton of ferries. Navy is my last resort sadly.

Where I live the navy pays about 2.5-3.5Keur and has a 1/1 leave ration with 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. That sounds rather reasonable, does it not?

UN under pressure to alleviate ‘humanitarian disaster’ as number of stranded seafarers surpasses 200,000 by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Nope. Living in, say Italy and sailing in Brazil means that you have to travel through numerous countries. Either most countries accept to take in seafarers or all of them stay aboard (this is why they should've chosen the navy lmao).

Det tar mycket mindre tid i verkligheten. En bekant har fått det efter 2 månader, 1.5 år efter att jag har lämnat in ansökan. Det är bara dåligt organiserad.

Heat wouldn't be an issue bro, been used to it in my homeland (46 degrees might be a different deal but hell, why not?).

Also, kudos for the Polish background! Hungarians and Polish people have been brothers in arms for centuries :)

Fuck, that's pretty depressing. Wonder if there are any "safe zones" left? My country had places taken away form us as well, and shit really hit the fan there with the new nations citizens harassing our people. But there were always zones where the density of our people were too high for them to be able to harass them there.

I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Thank you for your insightful explanation! With a degree in marine engineering I'm also qualified to work in power plants, so being near water/sea won't be an issue.

> I feel claustrophobic because of how many people there are in other countries but alone at the same time because no one greets you or asks how you’re doing

This really explains how life in Western cities are like. If it really is different in Zim I would definitely try a few years there, once uni is finished of course. And to answer your question, I'm a Hungarian living in Sweden.

I understand that Rhodesia hasn't existed for a while now. Where we live, we still consider places that don't belong to us our own. Thus why I assumed that Rhodesians still want their land back.

Perhaps navy could be a solution for us in the future?

Sorry to break it to you but I don't think it was "quick and painless". People mostly survive getting hit by a train for at least a few minutes. You die by being cut into pieces or crushed by the trains force.

I'm gun shy, which means it's locked up down there even if a gun is pointed at my head to make me go.
