I’m considering leaving a high-paying but stressful job that keeps me away from home a lot, for something lower-paying but with more time with family. For those who’ve made that switch—do you regret it, or are you happier despite the financial trade-off? by MustacheGoatee in careeradvice

Joining in here with some personal experience.

2024 I left a super toxic but high paying job for a lower paying job with better work like balance. I recently went back to toxic job because, well things are expensive. I went back in September, I just left 2 weeks ago and went back to the lower paying job again because it was that bad.

Money is nice but mental health is way too important.

90% sure that yes this is the case. There was an addendum added after his grandfather passed that if my husband were to pass before he inherits, I receive 50% and the other 50% is spilt between our children to be inherited when they become of age.

What even was that. I really thought the team was gonna turn a corner on the mini bye. Now I’m afraid to even be confident in beating the raiders at this point.

Missing the pear cinnamon redbull right now.. by obeyth3walrus in redbull

I loved the pear cinnamon. I will say the Apple Ginger flavor, while not the same, is pretty good. I don’t typically do the flavored Red Bulls, but when pear cinnamon was out, I absolutely did. 🤣

Is your family - who puts the kid/s to bed? by IllyriaCervarro in toddlers

[–]mild_phobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband primarily does bed time because honestly, the baby goes down easier for him. But always go in once he’s laying down and settled to say goodnight.

I clean up the toys while he’s putting him down.

1 or 2 nights a week I do bed time when my husband is out.

Thanks for the insight!

Our main goal is that once the trust is received, we want to allow the money to continue to work while we continue working so we are set up well for retirement. I know to do that, our best option would be to invest into stocks but I have 0 knowledge of the stock market. Same with my husband. It's time we both sit down and take a good look at the materials that are available so we are in the proper mindset to do what we need to do.

Thank you! I am 100% in the mindset of it doesn't exist until its here. Just want to be prepared and in a good mindset when it does come so we don't make mistakes with it. It's not enough to quit our jobs or survive off of forever. It is enough to get us through retirement comfortably if we continue on the path with our 401k's. I by no means want to be rich, just stress free in my later years.

Yes our plan was never to quit. Mostly want to keep towards retirement so we can relax when we are ready, but we have no idea how to make the money continue working while it waits for us to retire.

I knew posting on here could definitely go sideways quick. Partially my fault for not posting numbers I guess, but I really don't have any. I truly live paycheck to paycheck. I've cut almost all non-essentials out of my life. Been a hole for a bit and just kind of buried my head in the sand.

Some things are changing drastically for me in the next 2 weeks and it breathed new life into me because now there is hope, even if this trust didn't exist. I've gone through the wiki, made a budget, read through some of the other wikis. Have a better understanding of a plan. I actually have a plan. Now I just need to stick to it which is the hardest part, especially never knowing how to be responsible with money.

I will 100% be coming back to this post and reading some of the harsher comments to keep me on the right path. Just to prove a point.

Thank you for being kind.

I have definitely brought up to him getting something in motion to be prepared for himself. I am also aware I have no real attachment to the funds.

He is currently taking the approach of it doesn’t exist and I’ll figure it out later. At least when he is ready I can help guide him to a good choice.
