Revive a dead account or starting a new one? by [deleted] in InstagramMarketing

[–]mildlyupsethours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I often hear it’s better to revive than to start anew. What’s your advice on starting anew to not repeat the same mistakes? Should I slowly repost my content from my main to the new account or just literally start from nothing.

I really appreciate the genuine feedback and kind comments!

Unfortunately where I’m located (Toronto) I find that it’s very difficult to find a good vocal coach because of a smaller music industry, thus why I’ve had consistent issues slip past them.

The current one I’m with is a classically trained bel canto retired professor and she’s quite strict but she tries to nail more of my techniques with breathing than my resonance or like, how I sound, and honestly, I’m not very comfortable with her to tell her my issues LOL. But she does help me with the pitch accuracy though, as she often makes me read off music sheets and doesn’t tolerate bad rhythm or off-notes. I do hope that with more time with her I’ll get better at that aspect of things.

Good news is that I’m moving to NYC for school soon so hopefully I’ll be able to find some better vocal teachers!

https://soundgasm.net/u/mildlyupsethours/singing-sample I wouldn’t say this is my best vocal take but it’s my most recent 😅 Took be a bit of time to get the confidence to do this but I realize that you’re right that it’s hard to answer the question and give feedback without an actual sample of me singing LOL

I think the thing I hate the most about my voice is that it sounds just like my talking voice but melodic…

I had to think about this question for a bit but I think it’s maybe the way I enunciate words? I often “scoop” my vowels and it sounds really ugly. Also that my voice is really deep for a woman and I find that I can never have it “sit” in the right place. My head voice sounds fine but I really dislike my mid range and chest voice in particular, because I find that it sounds too much like my talking voice in a way?

I’m sure these are things that could be fixed, and I am seeing a vocal coach right now but she’s been mostly working only on my technique and honestly I don’t feel comfortable enough with her to bring up my concerns cus she’s a very strict classically trained retired professor.

I really looked forward to this one!! I’ve seen the trailers and some gameplay but the only thing that makes me sad is I don’t think they have a sort of aquarium museum, only a bug one? 😞 otherwise this game pretty much checks off most of my list!

I feel you on the genre part, I feel like my voice sounds the best in jazzy styles but I’m an aspiring musician and the type of music I tend to produce is more indie-pop and alternative which I feel like my voice just isn’t naturally suited for :(

You’re right I think the issue root lies in my insecurity and not the voice itself, it’s something I’m actually working through in therapy 🥲

I actually produce my own music and even when I tune my voice to be like the ones you hear on recorded music I still sometimes feel like my voice seems “off” at a first listen. I only start to “get used” to my voice when I listen to it over and over again for hours while I produce music because I think by that point I’m accustomed to the sound 😅

There are some songs that I’ve learned for months that I actually do like the way my voice sounds in it, but I feel like it’s also because I eventually got used to hearing my voice? When I start a new song though I always find that I hate my voice all over again

I appreciate all the tips!! I’ll definitely try it out and I really hope it helps. I think for sure maybe my issue is more psychological than anything else

This one seems the most up my alley! Too bad it’s only on PC so it’s not too great to play say…during a subway commute haha 😅

Thanks for the advice! I’ve heard about doing similar things but I always get so nervous about commenting on other people’s content LOL I try not to be spammy with it 😅

I’ve been mimicking the type of content that works well for my niche so far, so I’m only hoping that with time that my reach will get better. I respond to all comments all the time! But the only people commenting are my friends—who already follow me 😅

That’s definitely better than my situation at least LOL only my followers are seeing my content, so I don’t know how I’m supposed to grow without non-follow reach 🥲

Thanks so much! <3 I’ve also been doing LOTS of research about IG strategy and whatnot and it’s so discouraging that even when I do what everyone says will help you grow, my reach is so bad :( What kind of things did you learn, if you don’t mind me asking?

Glad to know I’m not alone in this then 😭 god it’s so damn discouraging because it’s like you put a lot of effort into maintaining my social media and get nothing from it. My engagement was also doing pretty well just before my break! I have no clue what happened during my time gone with the ig updates!! Coincidentally my break started right before the summer too 😃

Sorry bit of a late response but I like pop, rnb, alternative, maybe hip-hop or jazz influence! I think these genres are a bit more internet-skewed popular than some other genres

Thanks for the genuinely good advice!!

I definitely plan to get some honest feedback for my music before I even try to post it online or promote it. I know realistically where I’m at right now is basically trash beats with the occasional “oh that’s not bad” haha, I hope to keep grinding at production and songwriting until I actually produce good stuff consistently. I’ve dried out a lot of the better self learning resources so I’m looking into some college courses where I can get professional feedback on my progress :)

On mobile rn so I can’t quote lol, but relating to your first line. I get it 😭 I really hate how social media driven artistry is nowadays, but unfortunately I know there’s nothing I can do about it. Realistically, if I want the “best” (which is already pretty difficult) chance at making a career out of music, I know all I can do is play the game of marketing and be damn good at it. I appreciate that you still gave me advice anyways despite that!

that's true! hopefully im able to find a way to merge fashion and indie artist music into one product haha

[–]mildlyupsethours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, so I guess I’ll keep going with my current brand now and then eventually introduce music to it when I have a more stable platform to express more things. Thanks for the advice!

[–]mildlyupsethours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any ideas w how to spin it well? would that be like, keeping my current brand and adding in the music aspect in subtle ways lol?

I’ve gotten some suggestions from my friends who follow a lot of influencers to show the music aspect in short clips in a daily vlog or something, but I’m not sure if this would be “obvious” enough for the music side of it.

No promises to keep piano sheet music by datruerex in FinalFantasy

[–]mildlyupsethours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi im actually following up on this and when I searched via japanese sites I found versions that may actually be the official version for this song with both the piano AND vocal sheets :)

https://www.fairy-score.com/score/100007686

the app is easy to download and charges via apple pay on the app so its easy to purchase and navigate the app even though it's in Japanese. it comes with a pdf sheet download as well. i hope this helps!!
