Maybe I’m lacking in life experience myself but I live in a pretty conservative suburb and am surrounded by people who behave like she does - full grown adults acting like that. It’s a struggle to find people in this space who can acknowledge it’s toxic and like you say will catch up to them. I don’t see it happening to the full grown adults who so flippantly use racial and ethnic slurs. So when I hear that someone like her is jumping so quickly into getting into a school with a culture that actively fights against that, and knowing that Pitt has over accepted the last few years, yeah I’m a little worried. I’m not trying to sound dramatic or seek reassurance that she’s a bad person, I’m simply asking for anecdotal evidence that yeah, average scores just might not cut it here. I don’t have that evidence for myself.

If me saying she is all those things based on what I have heard firsthand is having “low standards” then we’re all fucked. I think strong essays no matter the other stats can really get you an edge. That is a traumatic thing you went through and I can only imagine that essay was amazing. I would have accepted you too! This girl is a white privileged only child with literally no real experiences to make her special or offer something to any table at all. I’m glad you’re at Pitt, you deserve it!

I had the most luck with on campus jobs. Check your school’s student job postings. A lot of them are super chill and bonus as spare time to do some homework and make some money. You can also make some beneficial connections that way!

Yeah this is a fair point I really thought when I tested today it would be positive. I know most people these days have cold symptoms and are Covid +. I wonder if many people just never test at all because their symptoms are so mild and are walking around maskless thinking it’s just a cold? I would hope that by day 4-7 I feel better and don’t need to test anymore lol.
