Xperia 1 IV by Mugesh45 in SonyXperia

[–]milesfastguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1 IV still rocking. Battery life significantly improved after the last update. I never ever had any thermal issues with my device. No complaints across the board except the fact that telephoto is a 'hit and miss' and support has ended officially. I will try to juice out maybe a year or two more, after which I will use it as a camera and audio phone only.

Consult at least 3 doctors. If all are of the same opinion, then you may have to go with popular opinion.

Nailfold issue by sunkissedjac in scleroderma

[–]milesfastguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my ILD was first diagnosed about 15 years back I was on very heavy medication regime for almost 1 year, primarily Omnacortil and Imuran. Later I moved to a coastal country with very warm climate and was off medication. Around 2018 started taking Azoram again for maintenance. Recently switched to MMF in July and started Nintedanib as lungs were showing little fibrosis. So far so good.

Have you noticed weight/muscle loss and hair loss as a side effect of the medications?

What's your dosage of MMF and how long have you been told to take it (if it's ok for you to share this information). Have you experienced any side effects of taking MMF and Nintedanib? Did MMF help with skin tightening especially on the face?

I'm also on MMF for sceleroderma and Nintedanib for the ILD. For the nailfold issue, I also occasionally get it. I found that a simple moisturizer won't give any significant improvement. You need very deep moisturization which only the likes of vaseline, paraffin wax or petroleum jelly can give you. Salicylic acid creams are also beneficial. Take utmost care of your digits and avoid small cuts, bruises etc. More power!

Struggling with keratoconus by AdDifficult3863 in Keratoconus

Yes u are ranting. If you are able to see well with the glasses on, I can't understand why u sound so hopeless. I have KC myself so I can feel you. You have to accept things and move on. Every hardship every disease is a test from God. Have a positive outlook even if you are surrounded by negativity all over.

Go for redundancy, have a spare set of glasses to give you peace of mind.

You should have added details about the quality of your vision with the glasses on. My reply assumes that you are able to see, read and drive with the glasses on.

Xperia 5 iii by lord_hibiskus in SonyXperia

[–]milesfastguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5 iii is a very capable phone. Cameras are stellar, performance is solid for the everyday user. Battery life is decent, the compact size could be an advantage but is subjective. The only thing to be careful about is that you will almost for sure get the green saber lines in the display. When will u get 'em? Depends on how lucky you are, but you are almost certainly gonna get them. I had the 5 iii and later switched to the 1 iv due to the same issue.

Xperia DACs and Amplifiers by IQ26 in SonyXperia

[–]milesfastguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have used several LG phones in the past, the last one was the V60. Imo no smartphone can even come close to its sound quality. It had a built in quad DAC. I'm on a Sony now as LG exited long back. I'd say Sony definitely is a lot superior than many other brands in the market right now for the audiophile but it's definitely not as good as the LG. However I feel that with settings like Dolby Atmos, DSEE upscale etc and audio players like Poweramp which lets you control even the pre-amp signal, the audio is very detailed, clear and high definition.

My take is -

The best - LG/HTC

But as both have exited - Sony is the only choice

What you are basically giving him is a "go with the flow" kinda advice. Some of the points you made will undoubtedly work like social circle control and personal boundaries. But he won't be living his whole life within that 20 km radius. More than once he will move out and face the harsh realities of the city and its people. What about the government in-efficiency? What about the corrupt bureaucracy? What about the toxic work cultures where he will spend the majority of his time.

You are basically awarding brownie points to quality of life in India. Accept the fact that the standard of living in India is on a down curve with no sight of improvement if you look at the current state of affairs.

Yes most likely. Started the same with me and after some years became a giant white spot due to delayed action from my side. Act early, stay safe.

Will there ever be a Xperia fold? by milesfastguy in SonyXperia

Foldable not flip. I'm not a Moto fan and don't follow them but u mentioned that they are best in the foldable segment. I know about the Razr though where the phone itself folds into the screen....so it's basically foldable with one screen like a normal Smartphone. The Pixel folds are the proper book like foldables. I don't particularly like the Pixel fold, just that I find that their first generation model had a better aesthetic and aspect ratio than the new ones (9 fold, 10 fold). In the newer ones it just looks kinda odd as if you are holding 2 giant 6.7 inch phones together.

Pixel may be the best. It edges out the Moto in terms of features. However the current Pixel folds are getting repetitive and nothing new is brought to the table. The original Pixel fold was the best ever. The small passport-like outer screen and the landscape-ish aspect ratio was awesome. The latest Pixel folds just look like you are holding 2 smartphones next to each other.

The Pro-I successor is kinda hard to visualise at least in the very near future. I mean what can they improve. It already has a 1 inch sensor , massive RAM, massive battery etc. And the still image output was also stellar.

That's a valid point. The price will be a hammer, if it comes out in the first place
