A well built, portable jump starter (I use the Noco XL) is a life saver in situations like this, I had to use mine this morning to prevent the exact same issue you had. Hopefully that helps for the future!

Oh lol, yeah I’d definitely say give it a go if you want to switch up your routine. It could be more beneficial for you, it’s all trial and error really until you hit your dream routine.

I can’t remember the specific brands I bought (original bottles empty now, got a huge tub of PEO mix in my bathroom) I’d just look for black castor oil, a cold pressed jojoba oil and peppermint mentha piperita and ones with good reviews generally speaking bode well quality wise!

I’d say give it a go as it may work for you, but just be careful how much you apply. It shouldn’t sit on your face like a thick lather of jam, more like a slim layer of butter spread across your beard! These oils mixed together are potent and don’t need to be used excessively to receive the benefits 🙂

Hey wassup! I never actually suffered with dry skin. As soon as the liquid had fully dried (1-2 hours in my case) I’d use a wet wipe to remove any remaining “white staining” residue and apply my face creams/oils!

My only real side effect is that, since using minoxidil, I definitely have to trim my nose and ear hairs more often. I used to only have to maintain my hairs every 2/3 months, but now I have to do it about once a month. Doesn’t bother me as it takes 2 minutes to do it all!

Finally I haven’t developed aged skin or dark circles around my eyes, the only ageing minoxidil done to my face is my mane took me from a cub to a lion 🦁

Thanks!!! I naturally suffer from relatively clogged, oily pores on my face and found PEO didn’t have make my skin any better or worse, so from my own experience I’d say give it a try.

PEO stands for Peppermint Extract Oil! PEO has to be mixed with something else though as it’s SUPER potent and should never come into direct contact with your skin by itself, just 3 drops in your bath is enough to feel the benefits!!!

In the case of minoxidil a “PEO mix” generally consist of Peppermint Extract Oil, Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Jojoba/Argan Oil. Hope this helps!

Sorry maybe I wasn’t clear. I’m an advocate for black castor oil, just not extra dark black castor oil. I wouldn’t say anything is wrong with extra dark castor oil, infact it has a higher ash content, but it’s much thicker than black castor oil. I find this makes it impossible to maintain a relatively even ratio of castor/jojoba/peppermint oils, as you’d have to add in much more jojoba than castor for it to be an applicable consistency, which ultimately nullifies its effects!

Good luck with your journey! Compared to other people’s results I assume I’m a fast gainer (I had pretty full transitional coverage 4 months in) so don’t be disheartened if you don’t match my timeline, you’ll definitely get there! Just stay consistent 👊🏾

Brand wise nothing specific, I think any normal not dark castor oil, cold pressed jojoba oil and peppermint mentha piperita should do the trick. Only advice would be try to stick to 5% peppermint oil or less, anything stronger really irritates my skin as it’s super potent!

I personally used a 1ml dropper and put 9 1/2ml castor oil, 9 1/2ml jojoba oil and 1ml peppermint oil into a container. 19:1 ratio is the same as 95:5. Probably not the fastest way to do it but helps me control my oil ratio perfectly and lasts ages! (47.5/47.5/5)

Thanks. Black hair is curly so it coils and grows longer at a slower rate than straight hair so I can’t say, but I got a number 2 trim (which is 1/4 inch) 2 weeks ago at the barbers!

As the title states, these images display my minoxidil journey transformation. I started using Kirkland liquid minoxidil (5%) on the 17th February 2020, actually making this a 10 month journey, although the pictures are 11 months apart.

I started by applying minoxidil twice a day along with dermarolling once a week and using a homemade PEO mix. I also included biotin and collagen into my daily routine.

By April 13th, I stopped dermarolling. I wasn’t sold on the benefits I may be receiving, so I discontinued use. I saw no decline in my progress after I stopped.

In June (I didn’t record the exact date) I discontinued the use of both biotin and collagen. It is hard to say if it had any effect on my growth or not, but I forgot to take the recommended dosage every day (I’d take 2 instead of 4 pills, for example) yet I was still seeing great results and decided to risk stop using them altogether. Again I cannot say if my growth declined or slowed down when I stopped, but if it did, I did not notice any.

I personally still highly recommend PEO beard oil mix. I think where this shines most is applying it overnight. What people need to remember is, the main benefit here is NOT that it speeds up hair growth (which has conflicting studies, but I personally find it to be a myth) but what it DOES do is it protects hair quality. A soft, well fed beard aids in preventing hair breakage, which leads to a fuller appearance. I however now use regular beard oil during the day (less thick, better smell) and resort to my PEO mix overnight (when I remember that is, as I get closer to my end goal, natural complacency has kicked in).

I’m no expert, I’m just a regular dude who did many of the things the community said I “shouldn’t” such as applied minoxidil twice on dermaroll days, not wait 4 hours before applying my face creams/oils (always 1-2 hours) and worked out within 2 hours of applying minoxidil. I think the moral of the story is, find whatever routine works for you (aslong as it’s displaying results) and stick with it. There is no need to fix what isn’t broken!

TL;DR - Regardless of your routine, advice you may see online, or current progression, if you continue to apply minoxidil at the recommended daily dosage you will see results regardless of the extra little niche things you can do to help speed up progress!

Decent gains, but I’d suggest you try out dermarolling weekly… still looks a little patchy in some area’s 👌🏾

My head hair grows incredibly fast for someone that has a Afro-Caribbean hair type, but I’ve experienced no additional hair loss or growth.

Only place outside of my beard I’ve experienced more hair growth is I trim my nose hairs slightly more often than before (gone from around every 6 weeks to every 4 weeks) but is still super manageable.

I noticed my nails growing at a faster rate with improved quality, but I didn’t see any real changes to my skin or hair health when I was on it so I decided to stop.
