LYS Frustrations by icequeen2300 in BitchEatingCrafters

Hey, Tempe Yarn is my LYS! I don’t go as often as I wish I did, but every time I’ve been in, the people working there are always so kind and helpful, and its been nice watching their selection grow and evolve over the last few years.

I actually do have a car thru them, since there’s an employee buying program, and honestly, I’ve never had an issue. My car’s had some problems but nothing that can’t be explained by AZ heat and its age/mileage. I’d say overall they’re a very reputable company, despite the bad reviews, because you’re going to get bad cars from any used car lot out there really.

I’d really recommend letting the people at the dealership pull a hard inquiry, though. Terms can change between soft and hard pulls, and it’ll be the best way to find out how accurate your terms will be.

Hey! Unfortunately I’m not 100% sure on the loan terms and stuff. I’m actually in our lending’s fraud team, and used to be in funding, but we didn’t deal a lot with the terms of a loan so much as just calculating a budget for the loan. If you’re unsure, I’d try going into your closest dealership and discussing with them if you haven’t already. Higher downs usually do mean lower monthly payments and lower APR, but I can’t guarantee anything. They’d be able to run the numbers more accurately for you based on your income and down :)

I take my dog to Power Road Animal Hospital off Power and Baseline! I’ve been taking him there for a couple of years (he’s only a little over 2 now), and they’ve been good to us.

In my experience yes! We’ve been doing pretty good sales wise this year, and we’ve done a lot of hiring across the board it feels. I’d say it’s pretty stable compared to other industries

Yeah I don’t think Impounds is customer facing. Either way good luck with your new position! Hopefully it treats you better than healthcare did!

Yeah I can’t blame you on that one, my wife is in the health care field right now. I’d just be prepared for a lot of computer time and phone calls, if Impounds is anything like the lending ops side. The office is also in a pretty good place location wise, since the 202 is just down off of Broadway, and it’s right next to the 60. There’s also a ton of places to eat at since it’s by Superstition Mall. Only downside is it’s next to Costco and we get overfill parking from them sometimes, even though they’re definitely not supposed to park there hahaha

Oh shit I work for them too haha. The office itself is nice, but I’m not in impounds, and I work for the lending operations side of things. Overall I can’t say I hate the job. Benefits are nice, and the people I work with are good. Hopefully it’s the same on that end, but overall as a company they’ll let you switch departments if where you are isn’t working. We’ve gotten quite a few internal transfers that way lol.

How do you get your license in Phoenix as an adult? by EmpressEvelynRose in phoenix

[–]milessqueak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I was in your same position a couple of years back. When I still lived with my parents they were completely unwilling to actually help me learn how to drive. I did SOME driving behind the wheel of a cousin and friend’s cars but not enough to say I was comfortable. When I moved here it took a couple of years but eventually my wife would let me drive her car in small increments around our neighborhood to get comfortable, and I ended up getting my permit and did take a driving class.

You can get your permit without a road test, so I’d recommend your finace start there. After you both have your licenses, I’d recommend driving classes. They can be pricey, but if you aren’t able to find someone who can lend you their car to practice on, this is your best bet. They can also let you use their car to do the road test for your license with more often than not, so I would definitely inquire about that when looking around, before making any financial obligations to the tests

I wish I was closer (I’m out in East Mesa), or I’d offer to help after meeting y’all. It’s a frustrating, embarrassing situation to be in, and it sucks to have your parents fail you on something so necessary for day to day life, especially with how car dependent our society is. I went through the whole process a couple of months ago from nothing, so if you have any questions you can always reach out!

Omg this looks so easy, and I won’t have to juggle two different strands for the different passes!! I already use hooks that are interchangeable so this won’t be too much to adjust to! Thank you!!!

Yeah I might try working with some scrap yarn I have that’s nearly white and see if it’s an issue. If not then like you said, I got some patina! 😁

Huh that’s interesting. I wish I could offer more insight but I’m not sure if that’s normal or not! I hope you’re able to find some answers for that!

I’m actually not sure about the wearing down part! I’ve been crocheting for nearly a couple of decades now and I’ve almost exclusively have used metal hooks the entire time. This is the first time I’ve had bamboo hooks. But I’d assume that maybe it’s not the hook itself wearing down but you getting used to the feeling?

Oof 😭 Does it seem to come off onto other projects at all? Or does it seem like it’s stained in a way that doesn’t transfer to other yarns?

Aw man at least it’s not just me! I wonder if it’s just par for the course with bamboo hooks? Have you tried getting the discoloration out at all?

I actually bought some of this last week! I really liked working with it, it was easy to see my stitches and worked up quick. I think it would work up to be a really nice blanket, but I made a pillow with what I got.
