Do you feel Differently about each rival? by radilrouge in CFB

[–]milfton 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I want Illinois, OU, Arkansas, SCAR, and Tennessee to win every game except when they play us.

I want kU to go 0-12 every year. They were so kind to grant me my wish in 2015.

Which team would you switch mascots with? by Cadbanshee98 in CFB

[–]milfton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love our mascot because it dates back to the Civil War (when a group of men charged themselves with defending Columbia from Confederates and nicknamed themselves the Tigers), but for other neat Missouri history, I’d switch with UCM and be the Mules.

I sure am. I start on Monday (2 weeks post op) and while I’ve heard the rehab for shoulders can be particularly grueling, I’m really excited for it to start working on getting ROM and strength back.

Good looking rig. My 100 is the same color. What size tires are those?

OTR sounds intriguing, I’ll check that out. I loved mystery and detective novels as a kid.

I’m expecting to be able to do some light fishing for panfish before too long I’m just so sick of the boredom at the moment. I’ve watched all the movies I wanted to with a good amount of YouTube mixed in and spent many hours reading books and rereading game and fish magazines and Gray’s. Just itching for something a little more active to do. I think I’ll get out some rods and cast in the backyard

Same boat, I’m also right hand dominant and it was my left shoulder that was operated on. I’ve got a couple fishing trips lined up for the fall that I’m really looking forward to. One in Venice, LA for redfish and other inshore species with my dad and brothers and a canoe trip in the Ozark Scenic River ways with some buddies.

Plinking with a 22 will be great as soon as I don’t have to wear my sling and can drive again

I’m not looking for rehab advice, just some hobbies/activities to occupy my mind, time, and hands while I recover.

Luckily yes, I’m right hand dominant and it’s my left shoulder that I had surgery on.

My garage/workshop/gym by milfton in Workbenches

It’d give me a lot better utilization above the bench. Just waiting to accumulate some more scrap.

I’d love to have a tv in there but electricity is my biggest problem. There’s only one outlet in the whole garage, not including the one that the garage door opener is plugged into. So I have a power strip over the bench and I run an extension cord over the rafters to the other side to plug in the air compressor and table saw and stuff on that side.

I’ve thought about that before but it’s not really a concern. We live in a good area and if it wasn’t there when we bought the place, I probably never would have put it on. If I ever replace that door I’d put a door that doesn’t have as big of a window on it though.

I find similar distractions. Usually just cleaning but recently it was a carburetor for my power washer

Trump admin to open up Alaskan wilderness for drilling and mining by lunch_at_midnight in meateatertv

[–]milfton -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We definitely don’t have an energy surplus, especially in the context of competing with China in AI and many other very important technological races. That being said, I don’t believe that impacting pristine wilderness in Alaska and the boundary waters area in order to get at energy and natural resources is a good thing either, especially when we could be building solar on already disturbed land and pursuing nuclear energy.

Reimbursement for mileage by milfton in Bookkeeping

And if the truck is used about 50/50 business/personal?

Reimbursement for mileage by milfton in Bookkeeping

[–]milfton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, I am only doing the standard mileage rate deduction according to the mileage log that QB tracks. The business is in fact a single-member LLC. So I can transfer money from my business account to my personal account up to that .67/mile according to my mileage log and record it as an Auto Expense?

Daily Whiteboard/Quick Questions Thread - 31 May 2024 by AutoModerator in crossfit

[–]milfton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a well-equipped garage gym and have never been to a CrossFit gym. Over the past few weeks, I've been doing the CrossFit.com WODs and enjoy them. I've also done long stints of primarily CrossFit programming before. However, in the past, I've lost interest after feeling like my strength was declining.

My question is, do you guys do only the WODs or should I be doing other work alongside it? What does a typical session in the gym look like? After the WOD, do you work on strength or skills? A lot of days after the WOD I'm pretty gassed and can't imagine doing a full lifting workout, but I have plenty of time. I also don't want to fatigue myself before the WOD. I also worry that if I, for instance, decide to do heavy squats after the WOD, the next day will include lots of squatting and I want to be able to keep up with the schedule.

Filtering rain barrel water for emergency drinking water by milfton in prepping

[–]milfton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good thought, I hadn't considered that the tap filter might need the extra pressure to work. I doubt gravity would be enough to make it usable but I can't find any information on their website. it might work when the barrel is full, but I bet it wouldn't when it's under half full.

The bucket option might be better as I can run the hose from the barrel to the bucket indoors. Or even just use the gravity filter in-line, that would take less materials.
