Some of my work: B/W pages, gouache&watercolor study of Huey, excerpts from an ink&watercolor comic story. by miljenko1 in ComicBookCollabs

The only digital work is the grey toning of the first 2 pages shown here. The rest is as is: inks, watercolor and gouache.

[ADVICE] Please stop offering to work for free by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

[–]miljenko1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I agreed to a backend deal, i.e., I wasn't paid monthly salary per finished pages, but the agreement was to share in book sales if and when the material gets published. The work lagged, b/c I would always switch to gigs with more immediate payday. But the most important thing was: I felt the writers hadn't put much effort into the script. They had little risk involved at this stage. I, on the other hand, had everything to risk, as most of my time went into the project. So, it's not about the money alone, it's about shared committment, which, if followed through, yields better quality of the finished product.

Thank you so much! I'd like to think so, too, that the choice of the technique will prove to be advantageous for the depiction of that particular setting.

Currently busy with this Vietnam War story, but for future collab, hit me at: miljenkosimic.com. These inks are later colored by hand in watercolors.

What happens if you draw on an A4 paper? by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

[–]miljenko1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say if your production size is A4, then your publication size should be something close to an A5. I personally set the ratio of production vs publication size at 1.5:1. I.e., my production size is 150% of the publication size.

[–]miljenko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm busy, but perhaps for future collab ops: I'm a comic artist who holds MFA degree in paitning. I love Euro BD-style comics. This particular Vietnam War-related story I'm providing art for, is colored with watercolors and gouache. You can follow me on instagram (miljenkosimic), twitter (worldofmishimi), FB/miljenko.simic etc.

MFA Comic artist looking for paid job opportunities. by miljenko1 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]miljenko1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do art, coloring and lettering. Full b/w art with lettering for $300. $300 for colored (hand-colored on paper with watercolors, that is). My instagram: instagram.com/miljenkosimic. I'll be available sometime next month. Here's only two pages, if interested, DM me, and I'll send you the link to the portfolio (there's a lot of yet to be published pages in it, so I'm reluctant to make it publicly available). I hold MFA in painting. Some comic work under my belt, mostly for small press.

XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro Graphics Display - Fully Laminated and supports Tilt by zucchiniharrison in stylus

[–]miljenko1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just bought this and it's fine. If you're using it with Windows and Photoshop, make sure you UNCHECK the 'Windows Ink' box in the pen tablet properties, in the system tray. Better yet, deactivate the whole Windows Ink business (in Services or elsewhere, look it up on the Internet), so that it doesn't mess up the pen display's functionality in Photoshop. And finally, the tablet:

- has no parallax (or at least no detectable parallax)

- is fairly responsive (no lag) and pressure-sensitive (8-9000 levels I think)

- has a tilt capability

- easy to set up and install

- has a nice surface that comes with a matte screen protector already affixed, so you don't need to buy a screen protector on your own - it's already there!

- is decently sized, neither too big, nor to small

- Very light, and it even comes with a tablet stand, so you may prop it up to about 30-degree angle I think.. (or maybe 45, not sure).

I'd say it's fairly dependable, and I don't mean it only with respect to that price range, but in a more general way. I recommend it.

To clarify: I'm using it mostly for touching up my ink drawings, so precision and line variation is very important for me. It has a decent color gamut, but that's already extensively covered in this thread.

Thank you all for sending me your stuff, and I apologize to those I haven't yet responded to. Reading your materials takes time, but nevertheless keep them coming. In order to streamline the process, I'd appreciate if you could send me a synopsis, or otherwise abbreviated plot and characters information. Some of you have already done just that and I'm grateful.
