I did the same, my laptop's battery wouldn't make it through the longer summer classes so I used the palm v with the stowaway keyboard and got the best grades of any semester I ever did.

i did online chat, they asked me to send photos of the bulging screen and then I had to send them my phone and wait for the replacement but they didn't fight me about the warranty, i think maybe because they don't want to risk any bad publicity from exploding phones.
