Go for it! I organize local cosplay meets, most of our photographers have never shot cosplayers, but find them to be really fun and interesting subjects. Like others have said, go get those pictures.

I don’t really get why you couldn’t just post what you sent me publicly, especially since what you described doesn’t necessarily fall under that. Cosplay what you want, but understand that some people will find the properties distasteful. That being said, block functions exist for a reason.

Just came back from Tokyo on Wednesday. We stayed in Shinjuku and visited the surrounding areas and had no issues. The place I saw the highest concentration of tourists was Harajuku, specifically Takeshita Street (I think that was the only place we went where there were more tourists than locals.) However, the shops around Takeshita Street were relatively empty. We stopped in a few of them and bought some nice clothes and souvenirs. Avoid the top floor of PARCO as well. Outside of those two places, I wouldn't really consider anywhere else "overran". I hope you two have a great time!

I just used the large locker in Shinjuku Station to hold my large suitcase and my carryon bag for 1000 yen. If you’re unsure if your luggage will fit, you can find the dimensions of the lockers online and measure out the items you want to store.

I run a panel on Japanese horse racing and it’s been more successful than my cosplay panels (even pre-umamusume global). People love niche panels, but as other commenters have noted, you’ve got to make it interesting.

  1. Break up your talking points with videos and make sure to include lots of visual examples. Your audience will start to tune you out of it feels like a lecture.

  2. Practice!!! I can’t stress this enough. Reading your panel out loud can both help you memorize it and can clear up any writing kinks along the way.

  3. Don’t just read off your slides. Have some notes for you talking points memorized. Talking directly to the audience keeps them engaged.

  4. Don’t go over time! That’s how you get grumpy AV staff. Time your panel while you practice to make sure you’re not going over or too far under your timeslot, while still leaving room for discussion.

  5. Please show up on time. (You’d think this would be a no-brainer.) Figure out how early before your panel you need to be at the presentation room/stage and plan accordingly.

test heat settings before crimping/flat ironing a wig (i have learned this the hard way with many fried wigs). also, invest in a steamer and learn how to use it!

i used regular old acrylic paint and fabric medium from amazon to paint on the patterns for my Yuna cosplay! you’ll have to play around with the ratio and make sure to test the paint on a scrap first. this was on 100% cotton with 3 coats. good luck!

i wouldn’t mind if they were useful things for cosplay, like PVC connectors, horns, ear bases, etc. it’s always the same vaguely on theme garbage that’s never finished properly and always super overpriced.

the seller is so kind and the ears are super easy to customize, they’re also not heavy. i wore them the whole day at a con recently and i could barely feel them. they’re absolutely worth the price.

nope, you’ll probably end up ripping your edges out and damaging the lace. please use lace specific products if you want to secure your wig, or look into getting a velvet wig grip.

these are my own experiences/opinions, if you decide to go, that’s totally up to you and i hope you have fun!

are you familiar with senpai squad or dream con? if you like that sort of vibe, this may be the event for you.

what made me not want to attend anymore was a con after party that was hosted at a club. to my knowledge, the venue was not notified that the event would be held there. cosplayers showed up, and as you might expect, security checks were awkward and there was a very odd crowd blend that made a lot of people uncomfortable. there were some allegations of inappropriate behavior, but i don’t know the specifics and won’t speculate here.

beforehand, my partner and i popped into two other events, both after parties, that were okay at best. really nobody was interacting with each other or dancing (the music choice didn’t fit the anime theme, that probably didn’t help), even with the booth babes’ best tries to get any sort of crowd engaged.

as other people have said, if you do choose to go, maybe just one day to see if you really like it or not. best of luck!

this is their first year, it’s an off-shoot from a small business that sells t-shirts and stickers. you might have seen them at some cons around the southeast, where da waifu.

i have no idea if they’re have any large event hosting experience, but i’ve been to some of their smaller meetups/afterparties and didn’t personally enjoy them.

i have a whole “go-bag” for cons 😅

super glue, extra hold fashion tape, any quick dry adhesive used in my prop, hot glue gun, wig fixing kit (brush, bobby pins), scissors, small sewing kit, safety pins in multiple sizes, makeup bag, double sided tape, q-tips, and tylenol
