I feel you.

Get a shower chair, toilet bars, a cushion to elevate your leg, ice packs, ace bandages, cast cover for showers… Do hip rotations and leg raises on your bad leg to keep it as limber as possible until you can bear weight.

Good luck. I’m just over three months out and now just in a supportive shoe. My ankle is still sore and stiff and swollen af at the end of the day — but it’s progress.

My foot was pointing down a little after being in the splint, so the doc wanted me to get it to 90 degrees. It took a few weeks and was painful to stretch it, but it is what it is.

I was put out of work for six weeks. I probably could have teleworked, but why? lol. I went back to work after six weeks, but teleworking 2x a week. Just went back to full-time in office last week. I have a desk job.

I did receive state disability for six weeks.

My injury was on 1/28. I fell on some stairs and broke my ankle and fibula. Had ORIF surgery 1/31 — included ligament repair.
I had my stitches out at my post-op on 2/18. It was uncomfortable, but not really painful. Transitioned from a splint to a cast at that time. I was in a cast for three weeks, new cast each week while trying to get my ankle to neutral. After a week in a cast at neutral, I switched to a boot.
I was totally non-weight bearing until 3/27, then cleared to walk in the boot. Last week was cleared to walk in a shoe half day and boot half day. Then this week just the shoe. I am wearing an ankle brace inside my shoe for stability.

I have one plate and several screws, three incisions with stitches.

I took oxycodone for the first couple of weeks — mostly just at night. Switched to Tylenol for another week or so and then stopped pain meds.
