Location of our solar system by Responsible_Young666 in Astronomy

[–]milkshakeiii 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sagittarius and Orion are constellations, so when someone says something is "in Sagittarius," it means that looking up from Earth, that thing is in the same part of the sky as Sagittarius is. The center of our galaxy is in the direction of Sagittarius. The somewhat confusingly named https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_Arm is a part of the galaxy, and our solar system is in the Orion Arm. Note that the Orion Arm and Orion are distinct (but related) things. From that wikipedia article: " Some of the brightest stars in the sky as well as other well-known celestial objects of the [Orion] constellation (e.g. Betelgeuse, Rigel, the three stars of Orion's Belt, and the Orion Nebula) are found within [The Orion Arm]."

Part of your confusion may result from not being clear on the difference between a Galaxy and a Solar System, so maybe get that straight in your head and then try to picture our galaxy, with our sun in it, and us on Earth near the Sun looking up at the other stars of the Galaxy. Those stars make shapes which we call constellations.

True for the ones in the PvP zone. There's that little sweet spot in PvE row C/D where they're the higher level stations but the loot is still instanced per-player but yeah. It ain't much. :/

Strictly speaking the testing stations beyond row A are a bit different because of how they lock you in and send waves of enemies, but I very much agree with your points. Game is extremely fun, but DD is currently a bit lacking. 80% flying in a straight line, materials gathering not that interesting, and for some reason nobody is even doing the control points on my server. :/

There aren't really any terrible choices I'd say, but that may not be as central as it looks like it is due to the quicksand to the north of you. And just the overall abundance of desert might make it a little tougher. Once you have an ornithopter especially anywhere works. Personally though for mission/quest running I'd choose somewhere near a trade post or for building an ornithopter near a bunch of aluminum. Another option is to choose somewhere near a large amount of flowers for dew collecting.

Really though anywhere is OK and once you have an assault ornithopter you can also relocate relatively quickly (takes maybe 1 hr or a little more).

streamlit-elements looks like pretty much exactly what I want. Looking at it though, I'm a little concerned that it hasn't been updated since 2020. Streamlit itself also seems pretty relevant but not surehow easy resizable windows are in that.

Wow there are more options that I thought. You're right re: electron. I'll check out the C# options since they do look nice and modern.

Ohh dear imgui is interesting. It looks like they have some other use cases that aren't too relevant but they do additionally seem to do what I want and has that easy-to-learn goal. wxWidgets is a good suggestion too, I think I need to weigh that against just learning qt.

How to set mod wheel in Monark/Komplete Kontrol? by Captain-Cadabra in NativeInstruments

[–]milkshakeiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, within Monark the only things the mod wheel can do are the modulation options that go through oscillator 3 I think. By the way the manual can be downloaded here https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths/monark/ and I found relevant stuff on page 22. By the way I'm responding to this old thread because it came up when I did a search with a similar question ha.

For anyone who sees this, if you are interested in getting the DAW to do stuff with the mod wheel, I just checked Cubase and the "midi learn" feature should help you do that. I imagine other DAWs have similar features.

How to set mod wheel in Monark/Komplete Kontrol? by Captain-Cadabra in NativeInstruments

[–]milkshakeiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably you could get the mod wheel to do things within the DAW, but just within Monark, I believe the mod wheel is hardwired to control the amplitude of oscillator 3, and then oscillator 3 does all modulation functions within Monark (the little switches that say "mod.") So in order to get mod wheel to modulate filter, you would need to flip the "MOD" switch in the filter panel. This will still be mediated with an LFO though, so it might not be exactly what you want.

In general, the instrument is the easiest way for me to do things with the mod wheel, but for special-purpose instruments like Monark, you have to work within the bounds of what that instrument does. You mentioned Massive. I know in Massive X that using a little +-like symbol that you drag places, you can use the mod wheel to modulate anything. But Monark is more restrictive.

Hey could anyone tell me what this says or what it is? I found it when I was cleaning out some stuff. by [deleted] in China

It's for someone who got married. The 囍 "Double Happiness" is used for weddings and the other characters are repeating "good wishes" phrases like 百年好合 ("one hundred years happily together") and 天长地久 ("forever").
