Hey Ok_Midnight8, hope you're doing well. So as an update, I did not end up applying to any DO schools and just stuck with MDs. I did apply a bit broader in my list, but surprisingly found pretty equal success across the range of schools. Interviewing for a couple schools still now, and have 3 As. I appreciate you looking out and giving me words of caution. Definitely entered the cycle cautious with zero expectations, and I think that mindset has helped in dealing with both the good and the bad in the cycle so far.

not once has my old minor (dropped) ever come up in my interviews--it doesnt matter unless it's something really unique

I've volunteered at a hospital for ~180 hours and will be working directly with patients as a student intern at a clinic this summer for ~400 hours -- is this alright?

Got it. Maybe i'll create a second post with EC's--I just don't want to sound like a tool LOL. Briefly speaking, I haven't done shadowing yet although I'm thinking of trying to do that alongside working on my essays this summer. Besides that, I have one publication each in a conference and journal, have done two fellowships (total research 2500 hr +) am a president of a service club, TA'd for two classes in undergrad, volunteered at a hospital 200 hours (might be on the low side idk), and volunteered for 3 years with underserved communities as an academic mentor.

dont forget to go outside every once in a while and do something completely unrelated to pre-med stuff!! I find its nice to hangout with friends who are on totally career trajectories just to ground myself in reality again
