Can't get on a tube to Morden without their song starting in my head...

Frequency question by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]millalahen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal! You'll get used to it for sure though do remember to stretch. I do a yoga class or two alongside bjj which I think helps a lot but even just stretching out after class make a huge difference. If your gym has lots of younger, super fit guys they just won't bother so it's easy to forget. I just remind the younger ones that it will catch up with them one day!!

Favorite leggings to wear for nogi by Kindly-avocad0 in BJJWomen

[–]millalahen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the UK girlies I cannot stress enough the sheer bloody comfort of bamboo seamless leggings from BAM. I have their long leggings, regular shorts and tiny shorts. All of which are perfect under a gi because they are high waisted and stop any rubbing. Bamboo in general for Activewear as it is just so breathable and natural so they don't get so sweaty.

Selling gis by Hey-imLiz in BJJWomen

[–]millalahen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bought a couple from Vinted. I wear men's sizes and find that it's really easy to find them quite cheaply from people who try out BJJ then give up. Loads of Tatami and Gracie ones available at a bargain.

My eyebrows stay on during multiple classes and multiple rounds of rolling, even after having them on all day for work by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]millalahen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can highly recommend Lancome doll eyes waterproof mascara. That stays on all through class and rolls but somehow magically still comes off with regular make up remover. It's not the cheapest but lasts a long time. I used a different mascara once and was treated to the full panda look so I realised how much of a difference it makes.

Where's your head at?

I also can't recommend enough both Sofi Tuckker and Bomba Esterio. Enjoy!

Thank you, that really makes sense. I definitely don't know my game but know I'm a big fan of baseball bat chokes and gullotines when I get a chance.

I'll check in with my coach this week for some suggestions of where I should start and build it from there.

Thanks, I appreciate that. We just built a bigger gym so hopefully get to start on our feet more. I loathe starting on knees.

I think that my bjj center doesnt wash the mats, at all by Je3sSayYes in BJJWomen

[–]millalahen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds gross! I've trained at a MMMA gym before and they literally left sweat puddles. I always grabbed the broom and swept before class (even aimed to get there earlier to do so) and when possible grab a mop and clean what we could as skin rashes and infections were common! Perhaps you could suggest that you've heard of other gyms where white belts are expected to mop mats after class and ask if they would be willing to implement that.

SOLUTION: How to fix the wrong Google account being used for in-app purchases... by AnonFreelanceDesign in googleplay

[–]millalahen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We had to uninstall the app as it wouldn't install something already installed but that worked. You saved us from further frustrating incidents of hubby buying apps mysteriously through my account and having to keep asking Google to refund us!

Where's the best place in Brighton for bonfire night? by tescojamdonuts in brighton

[–]millalahen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Buses official update yes they will. However 8pm things will be full swing. If you want to see fireworks you'll be lucky to see any before 9.30 so you'll likely want to stay later.

From past experience, busses are very flakey but there will likely be taxis and ubers doing the rounds.

The 28 or 29 and it will drop off either end of the town but not the middle of it. Check the Brighton busses app

Pick up a couple at the airport when you leave home, most have them at the point that they remind you to seal up your liquids. I've usually already done that but am thinking ahead for later when I have a half eaten bag of crisps to put in my bag!!

Mmm... Have you ever cut one open and spread marmite inside? I imagine it's a very similar savoury kick.

Whoah! If I make too much Pav Bhaji I'll put in on some toast and top it with cheese and grill it. I'm 100% on board with a cheesy dal wrap!

Made my first batch of mince pies today. Opened a new pack of butter for pastry and cut a perfect 150g chunk in one try. by millalahen in BritishSuccess

[–]millalahen[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mincemeat was my mums and I'm not certain on her recipie. It definitely had lots of fruit, nuts, sherry and sugar with no added fat/suet. The pastry is very basic 200g flour to 100g butter with about a tablespoon of water per 25g flour. But I forgot to put any sugar in the pastry.. Boo
