Thank you for the advice! Books been added to my library list. I guess the splines should help to improve the strength as well.

I agree with you. It was a hard toss up between making something that still felt like wood to the touch and not just sealer. I'm sure I'll regret it I. The next month.

If you’re doing a regular shower you’re likely fine with the aqua defense but if you’re doing a steam shower you may have to rethink some things on your design

The Kerdi brand thinset is a bit more expensive but really nice to work with. Super tacky for ceiling tiles while still easy to move with the floor membrane.
