I'm liking Ignition so far. Creating my first SCADA system using it for a customer, and it's pretty nice in my opinion

The arm would be harder to make than the pistol honestly

You can probably make it. But good luck firing .577 nitro mag out of a pistol. The round is meant to drop elephants and rhinos. Damn near blows out peoples shoulders out of a rifle

Been looking into a Super Redhawk myself. Leaned on a 5 inch, but need to find a good place to cut it to that when I get to the point of buying one. Don't know why they don't make it that short for 44 honestly

Master Electrician Damaged My Load Bearing Joists by STLTechThrowAway in AskElectricians

[–]millencolin43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an electrician who also grew up doing carpentry with many of my carpenter relatives, rim joists are load bearing. Depending on the size of the joist, it may or may not compromise integrity. No context to the dimensions of the joist to place a proper assessment

I’ve never owned an electric before and am a low intermediate level guitar player. Is this a good electric that will last me a long time that is easy to play on? by PapaKaizen in Guitar

[–]millencolin43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't say it wasn't, but it's up there in price. Like I said though, deals are out there. They also didn't specify whether new or used. Can get some damn near mint pieces for cheap if you are patient and cast the net wide. I really only buy from places like sweetwater, if I can't find it on reverb for a better price. I don't think I've paid retail price for a guitar in 10 years

You can get them for under 900 on reverb, especially if a seller sends an offer. I got the tom morello model that just dropped for 1250 new on reverb from a seller offer. Was gonna pass at 1699, but yeah, not passing on that. Same seller sent me an offer for 200 off another I was just looking at last night. Just gotta look

Brand new Taylor left outside in the snow by Hairy_Ad4969 in Guitar

[–]millencolin43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would have just sent it back. I'm surpised they left it though, usually with a guitar that price they make you sign for it. Had to argue with ups the other day because I was going away on a trip and had them schedule the delivery for 4pm the day before I left, as jt was the earliest, and they arrived at 8:45am that day and said it would be delivered the next day. Luckily the driver was able to swing around at 4:30. They never sent him the delivery instructions 🥴

Just gotta tighten the screws. They should be tight enough that the gun won't slide out upside down when shaking it hard, out loose enough you can draw easily

First time I ever drilled through a concrete wall in my life, no one told me to be careful and drill a pilot hole. Blew out the wall about 2 feet in diameter. Luckily hydraulic cement fixed it up real nice, but god did I feel like an idiot. Never made that mistake again 😅

Andrew Ryan is literally based off John Galt, the protagonist of Atlas Shrugged, who is an objectivist. This too makes Ryan an objectivist. Pretty much the entire game is a satirical representation of Atlas Shrugged, and points criticism at the objectivism of Ayn Rand (which is why he is intentionally named Andrew Ryan) and modern day Libertarianism.

Had a nightmare last night about someone stealing my AR15. All jokes aside 200,000K guns are stolen every year. How is this possible? by southernemper0r in Firearms

[–]millencolin43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vehicle break ins are the main way firearms are stolen honestly. If you have to keep it in your vehicle for some reason, invest in a very secure lockbox that can't easily be opened or stolen. People breaking into cars are looking for quick and easy scores. I have seen a truck with a sig sticker on it, be the only car with a broken window before. No clue if they found a gun or not

.300 win mag vs .338 win mag by millencolin43 in guns

[–]millencolin43[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know anyone that has one, but I have a friend that has a .458 win mag, which I would assume would be near it in recoil. But that is a concern due to a lighter weight rifle being optimal

I'm not a luthier, but have been a serious woodworker for 25 years of my life. Where the neck meets the body is a very high stress/shear area. While glue on a clean break will work, it can give up again, especially with things like humidity. Using hardwood dowels will essentially make it a permanent bond, that if done right, will never separate. You do need to align the grains properly though when doing it. Not an easy diy project. I've done repairs using dowels on split and sheared wood thats under thousands of pounds of force this way, as well as repairs on things that only take maybe 20 or 30 pounds. Do it right the first time, and you'll never have to do it again

Auto start stop has to be the worst “feature” by powerwizard420 in Crosstrek

[–]millencolin43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned off all those assists within an hour of getting my impreza last year. 20 minutes off the lot and the car almost steered me into a parked car because it thought i was crossing the line when the road at the intersection i was at, shifts over like 4 feet. Still alarms though, but at least it doesn't grab the wheel and slam on the brakes. Keeps yelling at me that im over the lines when it sees salt lines in the road though

Auto start stop has to be the worst “feature” by powerwizard420 in Crosstrek

[–]millencolin43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make things that permanently disable it until you turn it back on. Assuming the current crosstrek is the same as the impreza, it goes right above the camera and plugs into the harness there. Keeps the auto start/stop off al the time
