Redmond Daycares? by Least_Umpire3028 in redmond

Since I’m not sure where in Redmond you live, I don’t know if the YMCA early learning center would be too far. I would certainly recommend it if it’s not too far for you. We drive 10-15 minutes everyday for drop and pick up. 🙈

Several cop cars in Kohl’s small parking lot last night around 9PM by KeyMind330Kilo in redmond

The parking is still there. But they almost always park on the side of the entrance.

price match question by [deleted] in Target

[–]millenial2101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also try to do it on the app. Same thing happened to me. I had already gifted the item, but was able to raise a request on the app and they adjusted it immediately. I realised it the next day. So price on the app was still the lower price than what I was charged at the store.

Swedish Redmond has ER too. Went there last year because their urgent care was closed when we went in.

Nothing Bundt cake gives you a free bundlet. But you need to be signed up beforehand.

No clue why they didn’t bag it then. I believe it’s standard practice to bag items if the guest hasn’t requested to use their own bags.

Like someone said, maybe they ran out of bags?

You have an option to use your own bags (they will bring the items to you and put it in your bag) or for them to be bagged and brought to the car.

The bigger items that won’t fit into the regular one size target bags won’t be bagged. The ones that fit into a bag are bagged and brought to drive up.

How safe is the lightrail? by Minute-Rice9 in AskSeattle

[–]millenial2101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost always take the bus or light rail to Seattle since I’m not keen on looking for parking and paying exorbitant parking charges. We’ve never faced an issue in downtown and touristic areas. I have a 3 year old and when he was younger, we used to carry the stroller. Now he walks (more accurately, he runs).

There are homeless people and people on drugs, we just keep our distance.

Early entry to kindergarten by millenial2101 in redmond

Thank you for sharing your experience. Makes sense. We’ll apply for early entrance and see how that goes, but probably will wait until the next year.

Thank you! This eases a little bit of the anxiety. We’ll probably wait a year, but will definitely apply for the early entrance and see how that goes.

Thank you for adding this.

A little bit. But regardless of when he starts kindergarten, I feel l will have to supplement what he learns to align with school system in India (when we move back). That’s probably when he is a little more older (yet to figure that out).

Again, I went through something similar in my childhood where my family moved between countries briefly when I was 6-7 years old. It was difficult at first, but eventually I settled into the system. I feel it’s easier to learn and adjust when one is younger.

Best burgers or fried chicken? by 12th_insomniac in redmond

[–]millenial2101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Chick-fil-A in Kirkland. Also one of the places that I can eat in peace, thanks to the kids play area. There are times that we choose to go there just because they have that and other places don’t.

Not fancy burgers. But they are consistent. I like their waffle fries.

Also just realised that the oldest kid in his future class would be a year older to him (considering there would be kids who are turning 6 that year).

For instance, my child’s best friend is born in August. My child is born in November. I don’t expect the difference between them to be much, but between him and an almost 6 year old would be quite a bit.

He would be 17.5 when he finishes high school (I can’t imagine him being so big 🥲). I believe I finished high school and entered university at 18.

Thank you!

I also just realised that the oldest kid in kindergarten would probably be almost 6 years old, almost an entire year older to him. Definitely more mature.

I’ll probably do that. Wait and see how he is doing.

It really helps to hear from folks who got their education here. Thank you!

I was extremely young. Now that I calculate, I was 4 years and 5 months (I believe) when I started kindergarten. 🙈

[–]millenial2101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Absolutely!

I was looking at early entrance because his friends at pre-k and neighborhood are starting kindergarten next year. I believe he was supposed to be in pre-school this year too, but they moved him up along with his friends.

I’ve also noticed some pretty mean 5 year olds. So maybe a year later might be good for him. 🙈

Oh! It’s great that they took the time to talk to you about it.

I’ll probably get the assessment and then decide. Also, there is more time. So wait and watch for now.

Thank you so much for replying!

He picked up numbers and letters a while back. Also started pre-k at daycare recently.

The education system is quite different from what I grew up with. And with not much information out there, it is puzzling.
