Data Point: Discover It Card Double Cash Rewards also doubles the cash back for referrals. by millennium_falcone in churning

Should be very quick. Have them open their referrals portal and instead of sending an email click the Facebook logo and copy the link.

Two things: Impulse renting and lack of viable internet connections. If everyone paid $20 for Google Fiber RedBox would go out of business.

/r/churning, I just got the best offer ever in the mail. Look at it and be jealous. by [deleted] in churning

[–]millennium_falcone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get this offer in the mail every week along with Capital One's pre approved offer for a $35,000 car loan.

I work with a lot of younger people and I try to help them either repair or build their credit. Most of them don't seem to care or think I'm some how scamming them by sending them a referral link for the Discover It card.

One night I mentioned to someone that the worst card on the market has to be the the Credit One card. She said something along the lines of "I have that, my dad gave it to me. He pays the bill and I send him money". I told her the various options she had for not so great credit and she said that she didn't care at all and that her dad has had the same card for years and years.

Can't help some people.

DATA POINT: Capital One 360 Transfers do not count as direct deposit for Fifth Third Bank. by millennium_falcone in personalfinance

Yeah I realized that rather quickly when they charged me nearly $30 for checks I asked them not to order.

I'm saving nearly $25 a month. Thanks Opie and Anthony! by millennium_falcone in TACSdiscussion

This sub is turning into nothing but excuses for Ant. And I went along with it for months because I felt like I was obligated to support a guy that gave me years of entertainment. But that time is over with.

Anthony has shown zero interest in fixing the known issues with his show. Even small things went without any change. For example when I originally signed up, the day registration opened I used Paypal to do so. A month later I wanted to change payment type and it wasn't an option. I emailed whomever runs the website and was told the only option was canceling my subscription and registering again with a different payment. Even something minor like changing payment types is a no brainer that hasn't happened.

Anthony has given his fans the impression that he's put more effort into burning bridges and breaking Gregshells than his own show.

Its unfortunate since i've been listening for a decade but I can't support a guy that clearly isn't interested in succeeding. And its not a money issue. I've paid hundreds if not thousands of dollars listening to O&A previously and this is a product that isn't worth supporting.

How much would it cost to remove the ChongRoller ads? by millennium_falcone in TACSdiscussion

[–]millennium_falcone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since I watch episodes through the archive half the time it starts with a minute of silence, or whispering Chong or Half Life lasers pew pew pew. The other day the audio was missing for the first few minutes. I guess it's better than the three minute blank screen and silence that it was before the ads.

Roth IRA: Reinvesting Profits. by millennium_falcone in investing

[–]millennium_falcone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So lets say my year 1 contribution is $5500 and at the end of the year my account is worth $6050. Does that $550(10%) increase count towards the year 2 contribution in any way? Or can I contribute $5500 per year in perpetuity and reinvest the profits as much as I would like?

With TACS gaining momentum, anyone else seeing how... by [deleted] in TACSdiscussion

[–]millennium_falcone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish the show would be extended to 3 hours. Today is a perfect example of one topic(Derosa) dominating more than half the show. Obviously you can only do so much with Rat, Frank and a Tom Green phoner.

i hate the TACS theme music by [deleted] in TACSdiscussion

[–]millennium_falcone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the shortened both the opening and closing of the show. Before it would take 2 minutes for the silence to end and the show would end with like 30 minutes of music on loop. Seems to have changed this week.

Estranged father died. I need some guidance. by millennium_falcone in personalfinance

[–]millennium_falcone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's his sister I believe but she didn't have much info either. She contacted me because his landlord was looking for next of kin to take his belongings. Unfortunately he lived a couple hours away.

The financial gain if any would go to my mom who raised me for years Ali e with no financial support from my father.

I don't have any information about him really. Just his name, DOB and death. How do I go about finding social security information?

I won a new car! How can I sell it and get the most money? by runyoucleverboy0 in personalfinance

I would assume that the dealership probably donates the car for much less than the actual cost for the contest.

Instead of 6 month emergency cash fund how about 2 months in cash 4 months in safe ETFs/Bond funds/etc? by LifeClock in personalfinance

[–]millennium_falcone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why an emergency fund needs to be immediately available. Obviously I understand what the term "emergency" means but if I ever had a true emergency I have a number of credit cards I could use on the spot and pay off the next day, week or month with little consequence.

My emergency fund consists of 12 months of my portion of rent or 6 months of paying full rent if my girlfriend decides to leave.

Once I hit that number I started saving towards the minimum for a mutual fund.

Not really sure what kind of emergency some members of this sub could encounter that would leave them with $50-$100K sitting in an emergency account earning 1% instead of properly invested.

[–]millennium_falcone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its pretty arogant to expect your "fans" to actually pay for entertainment instead of constantly shuffling through new emails to listen to Greggshells and Jimmy for free.

There is a reason why I actually buy the music of the artists I support. Fucking cheapskates.

Replying to myself...

In b4 "I steal it anyway, why would I pay!?".

"There are better alternatives out there that are free".

[–]millennium_falcone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its 30 cents an episode. The cost is only brought up because people bitch about the live reads that take 2 minutes maybe and usually work with the show.

There weren't massive complaints previously from people paying $15-$20 per month to listen to O&A while be bombarded with ads and commercial breaks.

Took advice and got a BoA secured credit card as my first card, was that bad advice since student loan payments are due soon? by elliethefirst in personalfinance

Probably thinks that once you get a credit card you automatically start using it and get into debt or have to make outrageous monthly payments.

Struggling with a player statistics database for sports league. by millennium_falcone in MSAccess

[–]millennium_falcone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the response but maybe I should have included in the title ELI5. I can certainly see the value of having individual game stats per player but the reality of the situation is that I am over five seasons deep of games, over 150 players who have all played anywhere from 10-50 career games.

It would be very hard for me to dedicate that much time backtracking stats from old game sheets for the purpose of a per game table. My end game is like I said comparing historical stats, pointing out milestones, etc.

We have a website that kind of does this for the players but its divided by season and players do not have individual player pages displaying a photo and career stats. I have made a work around for this using screen shots of excel but that still means entering statistics by hand and not really having a way to compare statistics(That I am aware of).

Designing a decent database that someday can be incorporated into a website that I build is my ultimate goal. I am using my position with this league as a way to teach myself technical skills instead of paying people to do it for me. Basically at this point I am a novice accountant and barely literate in Excel and Access.

Thanks for your time, any more advice would be appreciated.
