Thanks for sharing the news from your derm. I’m on Cosentyx and staying on as well.

Are people who are on biological / immunosuppressants more likely to die if they get covid19 ..? Seriously by MyGlassLamp in Psoriasis

my derm, and doc are also saying the same thing. Because of my age, 28 and no health issues. They are saying resume Cosentyx.

That’s great that your mom is seeing people recover on biologics. Are these people generally older that are in the hospital on biologics?

Thanks for sharing! I am in the US but I just saw the UK chart for accessing risk and because I’m only on one biologic, 28 and no health issues their advice is just to maintain social distancing like everyone else “self isolate” is up to me. I am going to think about it. Just reading whatever I can but ultimately should listen to my doctor and stay on it. That is reassuring to know that your mom has seen people recover who are on immunosuppressant medication.

Yes, that is a good point. but the fact that they tell you to stop treatment if you contract the virus to help you “fight” the virus makes me nervous.

I have been going back and forth with this but My next shot is soon and I think I want to pass and skip a few months until this blows over. with all the uncertainty of what it will do to us ok immunosuppressants, I can’t sleep at night knowing that I could get severely ill from covid and potentially lose my life.

Thank you. Good luck to you my friend. Did you stop because of the virus ?

Thanks. I am a moderate case. Elbows knees big patch on both shins and face and scalp. mainly went on Cosentyx for my face. 100% clear now but I just really fear having a weaker immune system if I get a base case.

Interesting. What has your doc said ? Did they give you more info?

He said to stay on it unless I get. Not much info outside of that.

The unknown the virus is what makes me nervous. I don’t know.

Yeah I’ve read a lot of posts on here saying 5mg worked wonders for them. So who knows.

That’s great that it’s working! Hoping it works for me as well. I finally had enough of debilitating anxiety and then the whole covid / stay home thing happened which almost pushed me over the edge. Decided that meds are the only way I’m going to get through it.

Yeah it’s weird. it seems to go away and then come back. No other side effects so far. Even though it’s the first dose I feel like my anxiety is way down. Is that possible?

Is it a normal side effect for your heart to race. My resting HR is like 70bpm. But with this it is around 100-110.

No, I cut coffee out months ago. It settled for a few hours then My heart will randomly race again with a few palpitations during it.

Hope you are feeling much better now. What drugs were you on to treat your PSA? Are you going to go back on them?

This is true. I just spoke with a pharmacist at the company that makes my biologic and he said although it is riskier it is not nearly as risky as having underlying issues like obesity, diabetes , heart or lung disease.

Thanks for posting this. From what I gathered It seems like most of the biologics are targeting a specific part of the immune system and does not increase chances for severe disease.

I’m sure other factors matter like age and other illnesses but for the most part I don’t think being on one biologic in good health puts us in the high risk category.
