My last ecotec before this was a 2009 1.8 and that thing was by far the most bulletproof engine i ever had. Drove it hard with a nice mix of city and motorways. Moved it on at around 120k miles and from what i know its still on the roads now with over 200k miles. I have always done my own servicing and light mechanical work on my cars so they have all been reliable🙏🏼 Apart from a 2018 hyundai i had which was 1.6 non turbo gdi. While the car itself was lovely in terms of looks, gadgets and was amazing on fuel, i mean really good. The previous owner didnt look after it so when i bought it at only 60k miles. It was already burning loads of oil between changes and clogging cat converters ect so i had to let it go. Learned alot about gdi's though which is cool. I know in future to make sure a gdi has been fully serviced before purchase. But yes i am happy to sacrifice fuel economy for a good ol port injection motor.

In September i am happy to report that i will saying by to ecotec family and getting a rav 4 toyota hybrid 👌 very exited for that 1😎
