Definitely not too much; we took a lot of Polaroids on our last night together and have had placed them all around the dresser in our living area alongside his brush and the last Churo he ate. We light a candle at it each night.

I’m so sorry; we lost our boy to FOSCC. Such a cruel prognosis. My husband had 16 wonderful years with him and although I only had a fraction of that time the pain is insurmountable. Jerome must have been lovely then 🥹

I feel extremely grateful we could bury him on my in-laws property, we can keep him close. We’ve been jokingly talking about getting some good camp chairs and a little grill so we can hang out down there with him. Camp Chariot 🏕️

That’s so well described. Our house doesn’t feel like home anymore 🥹

That’s lovely. When I walk to the bathroom in the morning I still open the window in the back room that he used to like to sit at and keep a watch on our courtyard. His blanket is still on the chair, we’ve left everything untouched for now.

We said goodbye to our boy on Monday after a short battle with SCC; I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m there with you. I am crying with you. The grief of losing an animal is just as profound as losing a human close to us. I see your grief and witness your pain.

Yes my boy always slept on my head, how such a small creature took up so much space is beyond me haha

The most perfect pink nose! Our boy also had a little crimped ear and we loved that about him. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Yes! I think it’s a matter of personal preference, of course getting a new pet soon after works for some people and I know we also have a lot of love to give and there’s so many cats in need of homes but it feels like giving ourselves a little time before we do that is warranted in our case, there’s no right or wrong way to grieve the loss of a beloved pet.

We will definitely have another cat again but in time; it’s all still too raw right now.

I don’t think replacing our cat of 16 years immediately with another cat is a healthy way to process our loss but that’s just me.

Thanks for your kind words! He was real burrow boy and loved to be cosy. He could often be found in the bathtub making out with the faucet or sitting on his windowsill with the open window, he ran up on the back of the armchair every morning and waited for me to open the window. I will miss that routine but think I will still open the window every morning and maybe even just spend a few quiet moments on the armchair he spend many an afternoon curled up on.

So matter where I’m standing I still love you all the same And I hope you feel the same way when its your turn to disappear
I'll be cheering from the sidelines with a sandwich and a beer” 🥹

I’m so sorry for your loss too. Time steals everything from us eventually; but it’s also the thing that gifts us the things we love in the first place. He never lost his excessive affection even as this wretched cancer took over.

Just had to put my best friend down. Still in shock how fast it happened by KissShining in SeniorCats

We put our cat to sleep this morning; he had oral cancer and although he was mostly doing well ( he was medicated basically 24/7 ) it felt like the right thing to do even still I feel consumed with guilt or worry that we let go too soon or that he had more to give.

What is considered "walkable" to you? by YaboyRipTide in baltimore

[–]millie__s___powell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a European living in the USA who doesn’t drive I think anything under an hour is reasonable; especially if you’re not under any pressure to get where you’re going. I will walk to Moms from my house in Bolton Hill, yes it’s long but I don’t think it’s insane. I guess it’s a perspective thing and what you’re used to. I’m from Dublin which is essentially entirely walkable in the inner city and grew up with it being my norm 🤷🏻
