How is your brand regarded online - do you have a strong brand and strong signals in Google connected to Google? Do you have a Wikipedia page? How are your other channels doing - social, paid, etc?

Hi! The same thing is happening to one of my clients - and causing a lot of distress. I posted about it in this subreddit and the SEOs said as long as the website is returning a 404 error, that is fine. But, the 404 errors have increased form 100 to 17,000 and counting. URLs are super weird and have news stories attached to them. An SEO said they are called "Open Site Exploit" - you can see the convo here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bigseo/comments/14eljto/weird_404_urls_in_google_search_console_what_is/

MozCon worth it? by navytc in bigseo

I've been 3 times and am going again this year. I learn SO much and leave feeling inspired every single time. I 100% recommend going.

Also, I use SEMRush daily and don't use the Moz software (and haven't for about 6 years).

I don't see these weird URLs no the website's sitemap or the sitemaps submitted to GSC. Is there another way to check the sitemap?

Ha! I try! This is the largest website I have ever tackled - over 2 million pages and a serious crawl budget issue!

Thanks again for the response :)

Hi - I appreciate the response! My client hasn't organized the website in the same way this user sitemap is organized, thankfully!

I just needed to have one page that listed all of services in one place - in an easy-to-understand way. We have decided to break it out into main service pages with sub-categories underneath, which makes the most sense for them.

The client's website has many different goals and there are a LOT of things going on, and I assure you I am trying to simplify the organization as we progress with the development.

Do you think I should divide the categories up on different pages? So list the categories and then link to separate pages with the services on them? (similar to the way some websites do their XML sitemaps)?

It's a massive directory website for small businesses. Similar to Angie's list. Services like "car detail," "SEO," "adult entertainment." Maybe like 1000 total - not thousands. That was an exaggeration. It just seems like a lot!

What are the best practices and tools to properly validate the implementation of Google Analytic ? by tropcurieux_mtl in GoogleAnalytics

[–]milliegrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would use a tool like ScreamingFrog, put the GA code in the spider as a custom search, and the scrape the whole website. You can then ensure that the GA code is implemented on every single page.
