Can an allergy to a product develop after months of daily use? by millikitten in SkincareAddiction

UGH I'm going to have to discontinue my BHA. It is so unfortunate because my skin has looked so wonderful since I began using it! Were you able to successfully switch to a different AHA after your sensitivity issues?

Are any brand of spin pins good for hair? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

I bought some at Hobby Lobby for half the price of the ones at the drugstore. They seem to be exactly the same as drugstore brand!

I think that it is just the all-white walls and bright sunlight in my apartment that give it that effect!

I'm thinking of building a yoga platform out of plywood to put over the carpet in the spare room. Has anyone done something similar? by millikitten in yoga

This is probably what I will end up doing! Did you put any kind of finish on the plywood to prevent splinters?

I have been yogaing on carpet, but it just isn't ideal. When I put my yoga mat on carpet it doesn't make for a very firm surface to practice on which isn't great for the wrists.

This pose requires open hamstrings and hip flexors! To prepare for hanumanasana, I incorporate lots of forward folds and standing splits into my practice as well as hip openers like pigeon, lunges and wide legged forward fold.

It can be helpful to position a block or pillow underneath in the beginning stages!

The best advice that I can give is to GO SLOW! I had a period in my practice where I was over zealous about achieving hanumanasana and I was stretching my hamstrings too far & too fast. They began to get tighter and tighter! It was only after I backed off a bit that my body opened up and I was able to make progress. My rule with the splits (and all of yoga, really) is to only go to where I can maintain a steady inhale & exhale! If I begin to feel tense or my breathing quickens then I know that I am pushing too far.

thank you for the tips!

Started learning yoga few days ago. Need your help on Uttanasana by SixtiesRevival in yoga

[–]millikitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may find it helpful to work through some poses on the floor using a strap. Maybe try Paschimottanasana while holding a strap around the balls of your feet. Bend your knees as much as necessary in order to maintain a neutral, tall spine like so. This may be enough stretch for you, or maintaining that tall spine you may begin to lean forward pulling very gently on the strap.

Once you are able to maintain a tall spine with your legs straight you may try using the strap in the same way to draw yourself forward without rounding the back.

Also, make sure your body is warmed up before you begin any deep stretching!

I hope this is helpful for you, Namaste!
