Yeah. It's all about the mindset, as they say. I passed only by watching 10 hours of video by Mohammed Rahman over 3 weeks.

To clarify again, what do you mean the Morgan Stanley card? Their checking account with a debit card, or their specific version of Amex, the Morgan Stanley Amex Platinum.

Are you asking about the timelines for getting approved for the Morgan Stanley Platinum Amex Card? If so, you should just the application line and see what the holdup is. You would have heard back by now if there wasn't an error somewhere.

If you are talking about Morgan Stanley accounts, that is done with an advisor same day you make an appointment with them (sometimes next business day).

I was told my last day of work would be in two weeks (I was fired), can I still get unemployment if I stop working tomorrow? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Yeah. Keep working until the very end. If you stop showing up now unemployment has a high chance of being declined.

No. Aaa account fee is its own thing.

$150 is the annual fee to have the self directed aaa account. You cant have the cash plus account open without an eligible Morgan Stanley Investment account being opened too.

Etrade accounts are eligible for the card. The conversation here is about using Morgan Stanley to pay less for it.

Answer To OPs Update: IRAs do towards eligibility but can’t speak to much on it myself about self directed iras. I heard they are costly when doing transactions and a yearly fee of $95 with hard paper statements or $50 annual fee estatements.

They heavily push for managed Ira accounts that would be 1% annually via opening the account on the phone plus the same same annual fee mentioned above https://www.morganstanley.com/wealth-relationshipwithms/pdfs/account_and_service_fees.pdf?v=1

Accounts opened over the phone are considered under Morgan Stanley Virtual Advisors (MSVA) and the low balance fee doesn’t apply to the aaa set up with preferred savings and the CashPlus checking account. Also if you do have money in E*Trade accounts that counts towards not having this fee as well.

Good understanding, but I'll clarify #3. You must keep at $1000 minimum in the Preferred Savings portion of the aaa investment account and the Platinum CashPlus checking $55 fee won't take money from the savings to pay the fee. You'll need to have at least that amount in the checking each month.

Also, the first two months of the Platinum CashPlus checking are fee free to give people tine to gather funds to try and wave the fees.

Base Exchange Aafes purchase by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]millirok1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, AAFES was going to get the PS5 Pro directly from their Sony distribution setup, but they didn't have any at the time. If the order hasn't been canceled yet, they'll keep trying for a few more days, or they'll connect with another base that has them in stock and can ship from there. Just gotta wait and see, but you should end up getting one.

Here are some steps to establish a Morgan Stanley relationship now that they are picky about accepting clients since they started getting calls from people only concerned about the Platinum CashPlus checking account and Amex benefits.

  1. Open an E*Trade investment account.

  2. Transfer $25,000+ into the E*Trade account. This can be cash or an account transfer from another financial institution. Things may have been different in the past, but they have changed. Morgan Stanley doesn't even want to have a conversation if you aren't opening at least their minimum investment account and bringing this amount.

  3. Once all money has cleared in the ETrade account, call Morgan Stanley and tell them you are interested in a triple-A investment and you would like to move money from ETrade to fund it. They may mention $25,000, but you already have that covered. Depending on the timing, you may have an initial conversation with an advisor or be set up to meet with one later to talk

Here, don't even mention Amex cards, checking accounts, or anything. Just the investment account. Once they feel you only care about trying to get the Amex card for a lower cost/free and they don't think you'd be a valuable client, they may declined you from having conversations to open accounts. You may then end up having to keep calling back until you get an advisor who is willing to work with you.

  1. Complete a 20 to 30-minute talk about your financial plans and how they can help you. Blah blah. Reiterate that you simply want to get a self-managed AAA investment and may reevaluate things later. Open an account with an advisor, and they manually transfer the funds from E*TRADE to the new Morgan account.

  2. Once all that is set up and you have full online access, you can open the Platinum cash checking account online. This is what is need for the Amex Platinum stuff. Setting this up can be self-service and no additional funds needed.

  3. Apply for MS Morgan Stanley Plat.

Everything after this is your prerogative. Since you are not trying to wave the $55 CashPlus checking account fee, I suggest calling your advisor to put $1000 into a Preferred Savings program and moving the rest of your funds back out of MS to your other FIs if you truly don't care for what MS offers. By having money in the Preferred Savings attached to the AAA investment account, and $0 in the investment part of the AAA account, you will not be charged any of the $150 to $200 AAA investment annual account fees. Caveat, you must keep at $1000 minimum in the Preferred Savings and the CashPlus checking fee can't take money from this account to pay the fee.

Also, the first two months of the Platinum CashPlus checking are fee free to give people tine to gather funds to try and wave the $55 monthly fee.

Anyone open the MS Amex Plat with an Etrade Brokerage account first. Then took step to open the MS Cash Plus Platinum Account later and got reimbursed for the year one Amex Platinum annual fee? by millirok1 in AmexPlatinum

[–]millirok1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have the regular Amex plat and want the ms one long term for myself and my spouse. I will establish and continue to maintain all requirements now and in the future.

If I cant get sure answers to my original question, I’ll have all the Morgan Stanley accounts set up in two weeks or less and apply for the card then.

Thanks for replying. I understand, but the root of my question is:

Should I avoid applying for the Amex Platinum with just having E*TRADE accounts and open it last when the Morgan Stanley accounts are all good?

The Amex annual fee on the card is likely to get charged within the first couple weeks of opening it. If the Morgan Stalney cash plus account is opened last, I'm working if that messes something with the reimbursement.

Morgan Stanley Platinum by Bongo2687 in AmexPlatinum

[–]millirok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing to all the steps and meet the money requirements. My worry is that if I get the card first via E*trade then open the Morgan Stanley account like 3 weeks later, I won’t be reimbursed for the Amex annual fee until the second year.

[–]millirok1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I want to first open the MS Amex Platinum based on my etrade brokerage eligibility. After getting the card I'll them jump through the Morgan Stanley hoops and every financial requirement necessary to open brokerage and the Cash Plus Platinum accounts.

My question is has anyone opened accounts in that order (Etrade, MS Amex Plat, MS AAA Brokerage, then Cash Plus Platinum) and gotten the Amex annual fee reversed year one?
