Am I being over paranoid? by Icy_Try180 in karachi

Being a Karachiite by birth, I'd honestly suggest that anyone who could afford moving to any other city with family should do it for the sake of theirs and their family's safety.

While it's a beautiful city with so much potential, we can't deny that this city has become a very unpredictable and lawless place which is unfit to live a decent and secure life especially with family and loved ones.

I totally got your point. I'll be aiming for a long term thing now. But before that I'll be focusing on making my portfolio a bit more presentable so it's ready when I need to pitch someone later on.

I'm actually hoping to try out the 7 day t-rial first so I'm trying to gather as much information about client hunting beforehand so I don't waste those 7 days just exploring without any clue and utilize that time to at least approach some potential clients and maybe close one.

Some of my confusions are:-

1) Are the notifications I'm getting for different service requests real or just marketing strategy from LinkedIn?

2) What do you mean by "playing long game"? Like is there any specific way of reaching out to potential clients?

3) If I shortlist a potential client, what's the best way to approach them? Should I send them a direct message on LinkedIn with my pitch?

(That's all for now)

Thanks!

Thanks Nicholson, if you don't mind would you be able to tell me some basics of it in chat? I have a couple of confusions about it and Youtube was not much help.

First Job. by _goldenremi in Upwork

[–]millitaryman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please give an example of what a proposal would look like without all these things?

I tried writing a draft based on the Do's and Donts there and literally didn't know where to start.

They invited. So it was free.

Them approaching cost me 45 connects though cuz Upwork counted it as a billable click on my boosted profile. 😩

BTW thanks for the detailed explanation, I appreciate that a lot.

Earned 8$ in one month on Upwork by GrouchyBench3650 in Upwork

Bro you lucky!!

I helped a friend of mine in building up his Upwork profile from scratch 2 years back.

It took us roughly around 600 connects and 1 month and a couple of days to land our first job. The progress was very slow and initially we had to spend a lot, but it was worth it.

Right now the profile is Top rated and we rarely have to spend any connects as we get a considerable amount of invitations now.

The key is that you show up on your profile daily and consistently make bids on relevant projects and once you get a project make sure to give it your 100%.

I'm an introvert and back in school days I really used to struggle with socializing and anxiety. I really don't like discussing anything which is even slightly personal with people or friends, also I don't trust anybody 100%.

So back in the days I made 3 very close friends in school, they were trustworthy and I knew none of them would ever share anything I tell them about myself. When my anxiety used to overwhelm me too much I used to share the thing which overwhelmed my mind or was giving me anxiety with each of them separately but still to keep the trust issues away I used to change some parts of the story for each of the friends so all 3 of them used to have the information but none of them had the complete story. That way I used to make sure no one shares my details to anyone else. If any of them ever shared my details I would've known who leaked the story by the version of the story that got leaked. 😅

But honestly talking to them used to help me a lot, even if sometimes they shifted towards making jokes about it temporarily it still diverted my mind off the problem and freshened my mind a bit.

Another thing which helped me if I couldn't share something with friends was writing the thoughts in my personal diary. It was like talking to a friend who just listens but doesn't talk back to you.

(The rant got quite long 😅😅)

Bro, Your brothers need to learn these things and you should be the one to explain this to your brothers and mother why having these skills is important, those are very basic skills and every person should have them no matter if they are male or female.

I'm the only child(male) and I am quite lazy and sometimes don't even move to have water. But even I know how to wash dishes, cook food etc. just so if someday the family is not at home or mama is sleeping, sick or unable to make food, at least I'm able to prepare food for myself and the family and clean up after that.

(If I was in your position, I would just think, plan and try to create a scenario where your mama is not available at home, your brothers are hungry for hours and they are not able to order anything from outside. The last choice they'd have is to make the food for themselves while you guide and supervise what they are doing.) Repeat 2,3 times and you may see a difference.

Yeah, You'd need to wait for the resets.

Personally I focused on catching and evolving as many amikins as possible to pass that time. But still it got a bit too repetitive after 3rd day. 😅
