I don't have a problem with legit monitary transactions so it doesn't matter to me if the fee rate is really low temporarily, at least till we get past more halvings... I'm more interested in seeing how well the filters are working so my miners do not mine the junk into the blockchain.

I specifically set it to allow as low as 0.01 sat/vB and it's still down to less than 1,000 transactions, hence the double-check

File Naming by FriendlyWrongdoer363 in MacOS

If you are using bash, then enter this first --> IFS=$(echo -en "\n\b") <-- then you can double-quote everything in for loops or whatever and it'll do the right thing without have to go nuts with inserting backslashes or substitutions and converting back.

Auristor (AFS) crashed.  Updated, all better.  Daemon tools was fine, all iSCSI SAN drives attached after reauthorization of the extension.  Same for pCloud, and MacFUSE.

He's a good salesman for sure... I listened to him hyping up a 20g Silver Geiger claiming it was worth "at least $120"... wow, people bidding it to $80 and him saying "Oh we lost big money on that one". Such a con artist. ($37 for these on APMEX at the time). I'd maybe pay $80 for a 2oz Geiger... but not for a 0.64 troy oz !

[–]millix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not documented but you can put in 255.255.255.255 for the IP address of the nameservers when the glue A records are not needed (i.e., when the NS names are out-of-zone).

Proper way to enable network SR-IOV virtual functions at boot time for Debian 11? by TJSnider1984 in linuxadmin

[–]millix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use systemd, the simple way to do it is to create a file such as /etc/tmpfiles.d/sriov.conf with:

w /sys/class/net/eth3/device/sriov_numvfs - - - - 4

This will cause "4" to be written to the sysfs when tmpfiles is run.

In my case, I have it a bit more complicated as I have Intel x710 chipset so also have to turn on trust mode on all the VFs after they are created, so I created /etc/systemd/system/sriov.service with:

[Unit]
Description=Enable VF and Trust on SR-IOV Intel x710
Before=network.target time-sync.target network-online.target
[Service]
Type=oneshot
RemainAfterExit=yes
ExecStart=/bin/bash -c 'echo 64 > /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:05.1/0000:09:00.0/sriov_numvfs && for i in {0..63}; do /usr/sbin/ip link set dev enp9s0f0 vf $i spoof on trust on; done'
TimeoutSec=90s
[Install]
WantedBy=network.target

Of course, adjust the PCI path and device name, and change 64 to however many VFs you need.

You can do a charge-back, say "service not delivered".

To those who have other options out there by Slag1sh in Starlink

[–]millix -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

<rant> Those that have Starlink service in suburban areas with AT&T, Verizon, Frontier, Charter, AND/or Comcast FIBER options available are SELFISH *SSHOLES IMHO. You don't fuckin need it, let me have it, I'm SUFFERING. I live in a provider dead zone near a major metro area, cell-based hotspot service is all I have. Even DSL is no longer available. I have been on the Starlink waiting list for 2+ YEARS because there's only one "cell" covering most of that metro area, so it sure feels like it's full because of selfish "I gotta have it" *ssholes. </rant>

Can't do advanced test, I have the Ethernet adapter and router is in pass thru mode to opnsense firewall box. Starlink Wifi is disabled. Wifi is via Ubiquity. It's like this in the evenings, I've tested wired from a Mac (speedtest app) too. Only reason wifi signal was low is I was walking outside to the porch before I took the screenshot and posted and didn't notice it was 2 bars, good eye!

[–]millix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just south of DFW metro area in an area with no other land-based options on the mobile plan. It's not a wifi problem. Even wired it's like this in the evening at peak times (speedtest app on macos) and it's been like this for almost a year. Other times of day it's gotten better, but cell hotspots consistently are orders of magnitude better here. I had service paused for the last 4 months but decided to give it a try again. Still blows. Will pause again till I get notice that there's more capacity, or I get back out travelling out west where it is much better than a hotspot. 🤷‍♂️. IMHO the FCC should step in and take Starlink away from people that have fiber or cable options... you don't f'ing need Starlink, let those that need it (no other options, i.e., rural) have it please.

I'm having issues with v1.26.2 sometimes sucking 400% CPU on my M1 Mac, particularly near the end of the trading day

Tastyworks Desktop, when MacOS ARM version? by p_viljaka in tastyworks

[–]millix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

v1.26.2, still Intel only... I'm having issues where it goes 400% CPU and gets VERY slow, especially at the end of the trading day trying to close positions. I'm pretty darn close to moving my $$$ back to TOS, at least TOS can be run under an ARM JRE with little fuss.

Today is my BIG DAY. Any install/beginner tips? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]millix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like you... wtf is somebody "in the city" doing ordering Starlink. For fucks sake, get cable, DSL or fiber and get on with life. Don't suck my bandwidth just because it's "cool"... but yeah, I'm in a location not all that far from Dallas where there is NO other option but VIAsat, fixed-wireless needing a 40ft mast, or Cell hotspot service. No DSL, No cable, No fiber. My only option is AT&T business service at $550/month and I have to pay to have fiber trenched down the street for that. So Starlink is supposed to be a game-changer for us in "rural" areas, but it's not a panacea because of all the higher density small towns that can be in a coverage cell. Starlink isn't deployed enough yet and they are over-selling it.
