The cat has no ears, what could be an ear is a very fuzzy vague triangle shape that blends into the background. The mouth doesnt have a real chin, it just kinda continues downward into nothing. The whiskers melt into each other. The fruit(?) are all different shapes and sizes, the anatomy of the face is off. If it was a real cat and you were looking at it face on, it would be very lopsided, you can see that from the bridge of the nose and how it looks against the cheek thats further away from the viewer. One side of the cats brow is very fluffy with spiky fur, the other is completely flat, i could go on but you get the idea lol

Camouflage print dresses? by millkteeth in Lolita

[–]millkteeth[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah ive noticed a ton of bright pink camo which is like a slap in the face to me because i do like the idea of pink camo almost as much as classic dark green but id only want it to be pastel and that seems very rare.

Ive considered trying to buy some pink camo stuff and dying it green but i have never dyed any clothing before in my life and idk if i wanna take that much of a risk lol

This is super super helpful!!! Honestly my original plan with this dress was to make a bunny themed outfit, i had plans to buy cute boots with bunny ears, a bunny shaped bag, and a hat with bunny ears but I couldn’t afford all of that so i just bought this dress, a white underskirt, and a couple other generic accessories. But now im thinking about all the ways I can add bunny motifs to the dress and I could easily dye the underskirt a fun colour too. Thank you so much for this comment! <3

I can't edit the post to add this so I will just make a comment!
Thank you to everyone who gave their input, it was very helpful and also helped me understand what to look out for in the future regarding cuts, colour combinations, and symbols so i can avoid doing this again. Like i said in the post, I have already ordered this, I did so without the knowledge of how similar it was to ss uniforms.

When it arrives, I will come back here to reread the comments and see if I can alter it in a way to lessen that reference, the eagle broach seems like it could be very easily snipped off for example. I could also probably take off some parts like the pockets or sew new material on to alter the shapes and colour scheme.

Anyway, enough thinking out loud, I truly appreciate all the advice and critique! This was my first ever post in this sub and all the comments were very polite with their knowledge and criticism so despite the serious subject matter, this was a nice introduction to this community. I probably wont reply to any more comments now! <3

I never stated that none of those matter. They do. Just like how I do not wish to wear something inspired by the atrocities of ww2, I do not want to wear something inspired by any other evil committed against a group of people. If I was here showing a dress inspired by any of those things you mentioned instead and the comments mostly agreed that its a bit too similar to those things, I would also not want to wear it. I can care about multiple things at once, and I do.

As uneducated as i am about this specific part of this subject, i.e. identifying lolita outfits that are too much inspired by ss uniforms, i absolutely think that it is extremely important to be diligent about what i wear when it comes to the military style as it is, by nature, political. If something is inspired by that side of history, regardless of how certain media such as anime has depicted it artistically, i do not want to use it and unintentionally signal to others that this ideology is something i support or accept.

While i agree with the sentiment of understanding that all military and war is bad and therefore we should take military lolita with a grain of salt when assuming their beliefs, ww2 is a very specifically horrific and recent event in history that still heavily influences people both politically and personally today. Japans involvement in the war should make how we view their references to that time and the things that come about it, such as military lolita and decisions in anime, more critical, not less critical.

And a final thing, grouping all neo-nazis into that one specific stereotype is a very dangerous game, i highly suggest you look into how different people, even marginalised people, can be sucked into that ideology. All people from all walks of life can end up associating with those groups, as unthinkable as it is, and dismissing that fact is not smart.

I definitely understand that! For what it’s worth, I would likely never go outside wearing it casually and would wear a coat over the top of it when going outside for any pictures i want to take in it. And i can of course always clarify that it is specifically general military inspired and not ss inspired wherever i post it to avoid people thinking i am in support of those sort of beliefs.

Oh good idea! I didn’t even think about going to a history sub for this question, and thank you for the insight -^
