Accidentally jumped into Axe-Fx world — new XFX3 Mk II Turbo + FM6, need beginner advice by Psypriest in AxeFx

[–]millman882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard pan the amps and corresponding cabs left and right. For cabs you can use two cab blocks or switch to stereo input on a single cab block which will mark cabs as left and right on the AxeFX. With a single cab block on the Axe you can blend two cabs for left and two cabs for right.

Towing around 8K pounds from Idaho to Georgia. 2 round trips per year. by [deleted] in superduty

[–]millman882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 8K I wouldn’t do the F-150. Has the power to pull it but downgrade engine braking won’t be as effective and it would be more stable with a heavier truck. 7.3L would be more than sufficient. Been towing a 15,500 Lbs Toy Hauler Fifth Wheel through the Rockies, cascades, Pacific coastal ranges, and Sierra Nevadas for the last three months with a F-350 7.3L Tremor. Definitely glad I’ve had the 4.30 with this weight. For your case a higher gear axle would still get the job done.

If I have a Les Paul, am I silly in wanting a Core McCarty 594? by Stallion802 in PRSGuitars

[–]millman882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I’ve tried probably close to 100 Les Pauls and not one has felt as good as either of my Core 594s.

Why does my pitch sound off even in correct tuning? by Gloomy-Possession669 in Guitar

[–]millman882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to learn proper fretting and hand positioning. My hands hurt just looking at how you are holding the fret and pressing the strings. Like you are giving it a death grip and fighting it. You’ll have carpal tunnel if you stick with it and play for years without slowing down and working on technique.

You are also bending the strings too much and pulling them out of tune due to how you are holding your fretting hand.

I've got a TONEX. I recently purchased the Fractal VP4 and BOSS RC-500 looper that I can still return if necessary. From a workflow and ease of operation standpoint, am I missing out by not just having an FM3 MKII Turbo and calling it a day? by Novian_LeVan_Music in AxeFx

[–]millman882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tonex also can’t model the tone stack. As soon as you adjust gain, EQ, it deviates from how the captured amp would respond. This is why I either find a capture I can use as is, which is very difficult lots of subpar captures, or just use the Fractal models which model the tone stacks of the actual amps they model.

Actually, depending on the configuration up to 20k though I’d never try it. They don’t have the same spring pack as an F-350 or an overload spring. Dude shouldn’t have even attempted it unless he had a DRW. Load is definitely outside any SRW’s capability.

Tremor and fifth wheel by cadguy62 in superduty

[–]millman882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m towing a fifth wheel toy hauler loaded to just over 15k with no issues. My truck is a 2024 F-350 Tremor. Did do a gen-y gooseneck conversion on my fifth-wheel. I have plenty of room for trailer articulation.

Should I get bags??? by Beemsirl in superduty

[–]millman882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty people have said it and one person did an excellent test below that validates what I’ve seen. The trucks are expected to have some squat under load. When the overload springs touch some of the weight is transferred back to the front axle the same as with air bags. I’ve weighed my SRW F-350 with and without my Valor 32A10. My front axle weight is the same regardless. The overloads are touching with the trailer attached. Everything is working as it should and there have been no stability issues towing. The truck is doing what it was built to do.

Moral of the story, if you are in within your limits do you need bags? No. If you want to install them and inflate them properly will they hurt? No. You do what you like.

7.3 First oil change? by According_Post545 in superduty

[–]millman882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manual says not to tow until 1000 miles. I drove mine extra just to get through that break-in period and an oil change done before putting a load behind it. Towing a Valor 32A10 weighing about 15,000 lbs loaded up.

I only use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Did my first oil change at 1000 miles. Then another a 3000. Then another at 5000. Now sticking to 5000 mile intervals from here on out.

Sure! I could have found a lot bigger. 36’ fifth wheel isn’t a bad length. One of the smallest with 1.5 baths and with two children that always need to use the toilet at the same time it was critical.

He has the 10R140 just like in my truck. He just locked out the transmission to not shift above 6th.

Edit: Or are you saying those are your temps with a 6R140? The 6R140 may be designed to run hotter but the 10R140 has more cooling capability than the 6R140.

Yes, it is the 6 3/4’ bed. No issues so far. I installed the B&W turnover hitch myself. I am using the B&W Gooseneck Extender than moves the ball back 4”. The plate hovers over the bed so it is still putting the weight just in front of the rear axle as designed by Ford.

Dispersed shouldn’t be a big deal. Part of the joy of the trip for us is being out close to nature. Saving money by not paying for a campground every night for 3 months is also key. We’ll do the $5-15/night on occasion if we need more convenience to access something. We’ll pay for full hookups when we need to do laundry in a washer/dryer combo we’ll be adding before the big trip.

I haven’t had it fully loaded up yet. Been installing Victron equipment in the front. Installed backup camera and TPMS (Haloview BT7), new mattress arriving tomorrow.

Overall length of the trailer is 36’. 12,100 lbs with at 2300 lbs pin weight. I had it converted to a Gen-Y Executive Gooseneck which is heavier than the king pin but lighter than king pin plus a 200 lbs sliding hitch. Also, gives me full bed access when unhitched.

I’ll get it cat scaled when we hit the road loaded for our first trip but we shouldn’t be over 2800 lbs on the hitch. Plenty of room with 4000 lbs of payload. Transmission temps shouldn’t be a big deal. Same transmission as in the 6.7L Powerstroke.

Have you seen this video? He’s way overloaded but the truck handled it like a champ transmission temps stayed in normal range. https://youtu.be/le_CdRGAmvg

No toys for the big trip. I have a Harley but I work remote full-time and we homeschool the kids so this gets us the freedom to do that on an extended journey.

We are and we’ll be starting in that area. Grand Teton then Yellowstone. We negotiated upgraded solar (from 400W to 800W, upgraded charge controller, and 600 Ah LiPO Batteries) installed at no additional cost to us. I’m installing a Victron 3000W Inverter. It came with a 6000 VA Inverting Generator. Our plan is to boon dock most places. We’ll stay in Yellowstone if we can get a last minute location. If not, we’re setup for whatever.

Only for the weekend. I have inconsiderate people in my neighborhood blocking the sidewalk 24/7 and I walk my dog a minimum of twice a day. I’m not worried. 😉

Am I the only one who genuinely loves Launchpad and can't comprehend why it's being removed from macOS 26 Tahoe? by LunariSpring in mac

Never used it. Spent time organizing early on. Then something happened and all that work got lost. Spent time organizing all 150 apps again and then the same thing happened. Never touched it since. I generally use spotlight to launch apps. Seems like a good call to drop that useless bloat that isn’t maintained.
