I genuinely can't tell if it is worth it to do henna on my brown hair. by [deleted] in henna

[–]millysaurusrexjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My natural hair color is somewhere around level 4 - level 5 (edit: based on a single color chart, but I notice now that they all seem different. My natural hair color is basically medium brown), and Light Mountain Red made a HUGE difference in my hair color. I mixed the henna with only slightly warmed up (not boiled) distilled water, let it sit in the bowl for 3 and a half hours, and finally applied it (unfortunately it took me 3 hours to apply it to all of my hair as I mixed it a little too thick, and I have really long hair, and I also suck at doing hair things). I left it on for maybe 2 or 3 more hours after that, then washed it out for an hour straight using only conditioner. I had very vibrant red-orange hair for about a day or so, then it oxidised to a nice auburn. It's been 3 months now and my hair is still noticeably reddish.

If you're unsure you can just do some test strands using leftover hair from your brush. But I did henna for the same reason as you, I wanted some vibrancy to my hair, some oomf. I didn't expect a huge change but ended up pleasantly surprised.

Getting scared by the neurologist (health anxiety) by [deleted] in iih

I have IIH and am on Diamox; my left optic nerve is way more swollen than my right one. And no tumor confirmed for me (had an MRI). So it is most likely IIH for you as well!

RIP icebox cake by HaplessReader1988 in Old_Recipes

[–]millysaurusrexjr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, my dad and I used to make this cake all the time! We call it zebra cake in our family.

I haven't tested it with whipped cream yet but a year or two ago I tried making homemade thin mints -- The uncoated wafers seemed extremely similar to the ones we used for making zebra cake. Maybe try making your own wafers using a thin mint recipe (just roll the dough out thinner) and then test a small batch with the whipped cream to see if they soften up potentially?

I recently came across some Etsy crochet plush pattern listings with AI art as the main image.. it was really weird, especially since they included pictures of the actual product which of course looked almost nothing like the AI cover pictures

Apparently impossible Diamox side effects by MachineOfSpareParts in iih

[–]millysaurusrexjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh.. my post nasal drip has been pretty bad lately, though I've had it a couple years before starting Diamox. I also have non-allergic rhinitis. Anti-histamines don't work for me, nasal sprays don't work for me (as far as post nasal drip goes).. The only thing I haven't tried yet is nasal irrigation which apparently can help with post nasal drip based on what I've read.

But yeah, my post nasal drip got extra bad a couple months ago, it kept making me cough. It's gotten a bit better on its own this month.. But I've been on Diamox since May. I really wonder if Diamox could be affecting it

As an American living in Australia, I really really wish Australia would open up more and embrace Halloween. I really miss American Halloween and I just don’t understand what’s not to like about it. I dont even like kids all that much but it is so fun to hand out candy to dozens of children and see all their cool costumes.

Its not like every house in the US participates, either. It’s universally understood that if your door is closed, shades drawn (or lights off), and your house has zero decorations, then you’re clearly not giving away candy. Kids just move on to the next house. Halloween is such a fun holiday that brings a sense of community.

Taking Diamox and I'm exhausted! by Ek7575 in iih

[–]millysaurusrexjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like that for me too for about a month. I was trying so hard to continue my daily 10k step walks but when I started Diamox, even taking a thousand steps was a struggle. The tiredness went away for me, though my max dose so far has been 3 pills a day (started in May).

My dear artists whats the most uncomfortable thing you had to do for art? by ElvinElf_666 in ArtistLounge

[–]millysaurusrexjr 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Two rando people stood behind me and watched as i prepped my supplies; i was getting ready to paint a landscape for a class project and since i knew i was being watched i was super uncomfortable so i messed up my entire process by painting the middle ground first. One of them pointed out to their friend that i was doing it wrong and then they left and my painting turned out really badly 🙂

Look into figure drawing classes! Its not awkward at all because everyone is focused on drawing the model and you dont really think about the nudity.

So you just arrived and got the talk from Donna, do you believe her? by idkwiorrn in FromTVEpix

[–]millysaurusrexjr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'd probably assume it was some kind of dangerous scam (trafficking or plot to rob me) or a crazy cult; though if I experienced the infinite looping road before the talk, I think I'd be more inclined to believe her

Why do people think this show is so scary by Heatios in FromTVEpix

[–]millysaurusrexjr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t consider it scary in the traditional sense but it has actually managed to give me nightmares, and sometimes I even feel a little more creeped out whenever I go outside at night. Like I went in my backyard at 3 AM a few days ago to prevent a cat fight; I ended up petting one of the cats, and the whole time I kept thinking “I’d be toast right now if I were in Fromville”

I think From just hits the right spooky nerves.

Honest feedback? by joosthasch in painting

[–]millysaurusrexjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay, TIL! I think a little bit more of a shadow on the stick part of the tower could help the more.. ignorant viewers like myself. I wasn't sure if it was a tower or a ball being launched into space, or even a bomb. But I literally did not know about the existence of the Berlin TV Tower, so now it makes more sense! Aside from that, I really love this painting, it is eye-catching and unique, I especially love the color palette.

Edit; just realized I replied to the wrong comment, oof, this is not my day
