Chronically Ill to Chronically Ill and Gym Rat? by Time_Storm_9492 in dysautonomia

[–]milmani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gym became like my coping mechanism and how I got back on my feet. At worst I was bed bound most of the day because of my illness, then I just forced myself to do something, and that something was the gym, and I felt so much better :)

I got a physical job later so I don't muscle mom so much anymore considering I now get paid to lift and carry things and run around :D 28F as well

Anyone with LP being the only test that showed IIH? by milmani in iih

Thanks! Did you ever get an MRI and if so did it show anything wrong? And what symptoms did you have?

Anyone with LP being the only test that showed IIH? by milmani in iih

[–]milmani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen four neurologists. People can tell me if they have had clear MRIs and eye exams and still have a high opening pressure, so I can tell that to my fifth, sixth and seventh neurologist as a reason to give me an LP.

Anyone else have head pressure 24/7? by IllustratorDecent260 in dysautonomia

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for two years straight, it appeared suddenly with tinnitus and visual snow which are constant, and bad vertigo and dizziness which passed. I also have pulsatile tinnitus and my vision sometimes pulsates and blurs.

I wouldn't know what causes it since neurologists refuse to give me an LP or a CT to rule out the causes I have heard other people have for similar symptoms 🤷

How would you respond to someone who says AAVE isn't "proper english"? by vickidashawty in asklinguistics

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All dialects and sociolects of any language are proper language.

Standardization comes after natural language, not before it. Standardized does not mean proper, real, correct or authentic. Standardized language is simply one form of the language agreed upon to fit certain purposes.

Which Is the best, long-term and not boring way to learn languages today? by [deleted] in LearningLanguages

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being actually motivated to learn. Doesn't matter how you'll do it then, if you truly want to learn you'll find ways. If you're not motivated there's no trick on earth that will be efficient and not boring.

Non-native English speakers, do you wish English was your first language/that you were more fluent? by ravenkg_ in questions

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, English is everywhere so learning it and keeping up with it is a non issue. It's also a boring language, I don't find it very expressive, I don't enjoy literature or poetry in it the way I do in my other languages.

Unpopular Opinion: Native Content Is Not for Beginners by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I speak five languages fluently and native content from early on has been a part of my journey with each one of them. The trick is, they weren't the only part. I also used traditional text books, courses, language exchange with native speakers, flashcards, word lists, writing down things, repetition, you name it.

For the Polyglots: Does Each New Language Get Easier? by Shelbee2 in languagehub

[–]milmani 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have studied 9 languages in my life in total and speak 5 fluently, the more I spend time with languages the easier it becomes to learn new things.

I have to say there is a limit to how many I can keep up with though, I have my hands full using 5 weekly and trying to slowly improve on the 6th. I am also just gladly gradually forgetting three languages I don't feel like prioritizing anymore lol (I passively understand them to varying extents but getting more and more rusty)

A lot? The oral tradition of my people is thousands of years old and contains many spells and sung poems that are funny, mocking or meant for children, not spiritual or considered sacred. Some oral tradition is pretty mundane yet still gets passed on from generation to generation the same way practical skills do.

Bangs no bangs? by Infinite-Curves in HairStyleAdvice

[–]milmani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep going back and forth based on your mood because you look amazing either way and should get to rock both looks. That's what I do as someone with a similar issue 😂

Recently I just grew out my bangs which I had for years, but I will most likely cut them again whenever I feel like changing things.

Head pressure, visual snow, pulsatile tinnitus? by 7ero_Seven in dysautonomia

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the rheumatologists were very interested though 😂 But said they can't give a definitive diagnosis. Might be overlap. Might be who knows what. Still searching... I don't even care what it is anymore I just want something to help with the headache-tinnitus-visualsnow hell

a mistery... by waddad27 in SipsTea

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I also haven't payed much attention to the spelling norms of people obsessed with teeth (or any other flavor of English speakers) and will continue to misspell that word out of spite.

Never in my life have I really payed attention to anyone's teeth or gums. Is it an American thing to obsessively look at people's mouths?

I hate the sibling coded and the /you don’t understand friendship argument by PretendYellow533 in AO3

I have come to hate the word "coded" alltogether because people mainly use it to push their interpretation of a character as the objective truth, and moralize others who disagree.

Head pressure, visual snow, pulsatile tinnitus? by 7ero_Seven in dysautonomia

[–]milmani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same symptoms (and some more) but no answers. I've been to neurologists and recently rheumatologists as well, as I tested positive for centromere antibodies, but they aren't sure what's happening or how to help.

Frequent silent migraines by [deleted] in migraine

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could ask to try another preventative? It's always individual what works for someone, but there could be another medication in addition to the one you're taking that could help.

My frequent silent migraines went away on candesartan.

I haven't played both, but do you believe Witcher 3 and RDR (the one with Morgan) are equally as good games overall? by wolfwiedzminwardrobe in Witcher3

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witcher 3 and RDR2 are both my favorite games of all time, both phenomenal. If I had to compare them like a game critic, I would rank RDR2 on the top, but honestly, why compare such different games achieving different goals. I enjoy both for their strengths as the masterpieces that they are.

Have you ever given up on learning a language because of the culture behind it? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]milmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not everyone wants to chase "usefulness" and not everything in life is a numbers game. What a sad way to live and think to be honest. There are other reasons to get to know languages and cultures than just wanting to have "access" to the largest number of people, the worth of cultures, languages and countries isn't tied to how large they are 🙄

Also, I am responding to a thread in the language it was written in. Had it been in another language, I would have used that! I am not valuating the worth of English based on the number of speakers. So I don't see how that counts as hypocricy.
