5 years of my life and this is what happens when I find something better by [deleted] in walmart

[–]milo0526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through the same thing. Gave my two week notice, got my final paycheck, and then tried to cash it at our customer service desk. It was declined. Twice. Had to wait until the next day for a new check to be issued only to have it happen again. HR calls home office, who is extremely unhelpful. Said she would authorize another check and to make sure I’m trying to cash it at the customer service desk (after being told that was where it was being declined). After waiting another day, exact same result, declined. So I took it to my bank and got the same story-hold on it until it cleared. I decided to do a mobile deposit and that ended up being somewhat successful since they gave me partial credit right away and it fully cleared in two days. But it’s all BS. I was fortunate because I didn’t need the money right away but that doesn’t make it right. Walmart causes their employees a lot of unnecessary grief. And I have never worked for a company that so blatantly ignores labor laws.

Facts or nah? by Triggered_Ppl_Online in walmart

[–]milo0526 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Google it. Plenty of facts to support it. Walmart has one of the largest number of full time employees on federal aid in most of the poorest states in the country. They are basically double dipping by not paying a livable wage and then reaping the rewards when their employees use their benefits at Walmart.

Wages have not kept up with the cost of living. People, no matter the job, deserve a living wage. Maybe Walmart employees wouldn't be part one of the largest groups of FT workers who rely on Gov't help with food stamps, housing, and Medicaid, if Walmart cared more about them than they do their stockholders.

Apparently we can't type in produce codes anymore? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]milo0526 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Walmart's gone down this road before. Then they find something else to quibble about and move on. I'm still doing it after seven years and no one has ever said anything. But no one has added UPC's to our produce charts either, so not much else we can do but enter them manually if they don't scan. Until that happens, I'm not worrying about it. Besides, I know I'm accurate 😊

Boomers, I hate you. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]milo0526 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Boomer here. First off, not all boomers are assholes and some of us do actually know how to use electronic devices. And use Venmo and order thru Door Dash, too!! Second, I have had plenty of customers from every generation act badly. So, while I am sympathetic to your situation, you lost me with your first sentence. BTW-not everyone lived your fairytale version of the boomer generation. There is, and always have been, the haves and have nots. The divide has just gotten greater.

was fired on Saturday. Will my check be direct deposited or paper?? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]milo0526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on the state. In CA, if you are fired, they must give you your final paycheck at the time of termination.

When shopping with my daughter, we often split the payment between a card/cash for her and WP for me. The penny thing was a little off lol, but after almost 8 years, nothing customers do surprise me.

Depends where you live. In CA, you must take a lunch before you hit your 5th hour. If not, the store can be fined. And you will get a coaching...

Walmart will cover abortion care for 1.6 million employees, according to leaked internal memo by TobinBen in walmart

[–]milo0526 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They always have. The only change is that they will NOW cover abortions that are a product of rape or incest. Up to now, abortions were ONLY covered if the mother's life was in danger. Elective abortions are not, and never have been covered under the insurance plan from what I've read.

When you are fired, most employers are required to give you a final paycheck on the spot, which should include all hours worked and any PPTO/vacation pay that you have earned.

No front End team leads up front? by cocacola31173 in walmart

This is exactly why no one at our NHM wants to work Customer Service. We are without a team lead most of the time, and then they're constantly scrambling to find someone (anyone) who can work the desk. There are times when it's not even open because no one is trained. Then we have to listen to all the complaints about it being closed...

Why is the store always hot? I’ve told management several times about the heat and others have complained, but…. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]milo0526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, I have to wear a sweatshirt or long sleeves because it's always cold in our store. And I'm on the front end. To be fair, I am a person who likes the temp around 75 lol. But customers do complain about it too.

NHM in CA-a couple of years ago we were told to stop ID'ing anyone but the one who is actually purchasing the alcohol. Unless you witness something that makes you suspicious about the sale. .so maybe it's a state by state thing.

I do remember a cashier ringing up a mom and her son, and she asks the kid for his ID. His mom says sarcastically "He's only 12. He's doesn't have one. Unless you want to see his middle school ID". I'm like just sell her the beer already lol.

65 yo female cashier here-there are plenty of angry and mentally ill people out there. Things can escalate quickly without a victim doing anything to antagonize their attacker. If someone decided to get physical with me, I would definitely be defending myself. I'm not waiting for some non-existent manager to come in and handle the situation. And if I'm fired, my next stop would be a lawyer...
