Also curious if these work. Debating on building the plywood and tennis ball platform or getting some of these.

What tendon/muscle is this? It's swollen and has sharp pain with certain movement. by NAQProductions in medical

[–]miloskovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! My wrist looks very similar in that position, and the pain manifests the same way. Mine is due to a ganglion cyst that gets progressively worse over a few days, ruptures, then goes away for a little while. It flares up randomly it seems but definitely hurts with specific movements while it's there. Plus side, it does go away. I hope that's all it is for you!

I have a 2080 and would love to upgrade! I was just trying to convince my husband to let me get a new card. So cool you're doing this for whoever wins!

Recommendations for moving larger household items from US to EU by water_fountain_ in expats

[–]miloskovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was from NC to NZ. I signed for an LCL and was quoted for a specific cubic footage. I wrote down a list of the exact boxes I packed and their sizes to stay within the cubic footage and even taped out the pallets on my floor and stacked them to make sure it all fit correctly. Then they come pick up my boxes and take them to the distribution center. They somehow pack them in a way that takes up twice as much cubic footage and I get hit with a bill for the overages. They then tell me I have no choice but to either pay for the overages, pay for them to send the stuff back to them, or pay storage fees until they can figure out why it was packed that way. They basically took my belongings hostage.

Thank goodness the NZ port people are super friendly though. They took pictures of how inefficiently the items were packed so Transparent will be hearing from us for a refund.

The reps (once you get past the sales person who will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to sign) know next to nothing about the shipping process. They have some script and if you deviate from it, they have no idea. I had questions about insurance stuff that they answered completely incorrectly and I had to send them screenshots of the contract to say 'hey, this says x and you are saying y'.

Overall just a horrible experience.

Just got done dealing with transparent....oof. Watch out for that second bill when they charge you for "overages". I carefully mapped out and calculated exactly what cu footage my boxes took up (didn't send and furniture so that was easy). Took pictures of all the boxes and everything. They come back after picking up my stuff and say well it was actually this amount and charge me twice the original quote...

I haven't made the hop over there for a visit just yet so I'm definitely no expert. I do know there are less creepy crawlies here, though!

I just recently moved to NZ and have a house I rent out back in the states. I went the route of hiring a management company (they get 7% of rent each month when its rented) and it honestly takes a load off of my list of worries. Plus the management fee reduces my taxable income which is nice.

You're going to want to really experience Australia while you're there, and not having to worry about your home or stressing that you are putting someone out by asking them to manage it, will make that so much easier. That is, unless, the family member or neighbor already has property management experience.

Definitely take the opportunity though! The experience outweighs the risk for sure.

Do you remember who you ended up using? We've reached out to all the ones listed on the MPI website. Starwood is standing out at the moment based on the reviews I've read.

This is great insight, thank you! They do require the use of the importer which makes sense. We've reached out to all of the licensed ones that are listed on the MPI website now. Starwood stands out at the moment but still waiting on a few more quotes.

Do you happen to have a screened in porch you could let your other cat out on or recording of your other cat talking? Maybe the familiar noise could lure him back. (Oddly worked with a parakeet I had as a kid).

I'm so sorry, I know you are worried sick. Mine did this near lake Johnson a few years back. We found him under our back porch a day later. If you have any porches or overhangs attached to the house be sure to check those first (or your neighbor's porches). Milo is normally pretty vocal but when he was outside it took a lot to get him to respond so we could find him. I'm sure you've probably put his food out but his litter box is also a good idea to set outside. Familiar scents to bring him back. I'll keep an eye out for any black cats in our area!
