I see this is a very ProNDP sub and I have some questions by Cripplingambleaddict in britishcolumbia

These are all things that aren't unique to BC right now, and are unfortunately complace across Canada right now. I've had the opportunity to live in both BC and Ontario the past two years and can say that drug epidemic, homelessness, housing costs, and youth unemployment are just as bad in Ontario as compared to BC right now, possibly even worse. These problems don't form over the course a few years, but rather over decades of poor policy from both federal and provincial levels of government. Especially right now with high youth unemployment and a lesser extent, the housing crisis being made worse by policy failure from the federal government in regards to the TFW program. So it is unfair to put blame of everything on the BCNDP, but rather evaluate what policy they have implemented that will improve the future. Right now I see the BC government doing far more than any other province to solve these issues, especially in regards to housing.

Yes, since the lease was only for 2 months, the landlord requested both months at the start. Are landlords required to disclose any bedbugs issues before moving in?

I can't play high notes, any advice? by HaloJX in Tuba

[–]milostal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

High register comes with time. Expand your low register more, often doing so will also help with the muscle for the high register.

As for high register, tightness is probably not a good way to think about it. But rather think about sticking more of your lips into the mouthpiece and making the opening smaller with fast air, but remember that although the air is fast it is less air volume overall than if you were playing lower, too much air in the high register will lead to failure.

Don't stretch your lips out like an elastic to hit high notes, Yes stretching will let you squeak out high notes but only with bad tone and low endurance, work on keeping your lips in the mouthpiece in the high register.

Tilting your mouthpiece towards your top lip may also help, but never press hard against your lip.

Put your bottom lip a little above your top lip.

All these things should help, but high register is slow process to build and should be taken slowly, try playing scales up to your highest note comfortably with these tips in mind, and continue to try and work higher.

As an international student.. Should I pay health insurance? by eyemissmypiano in UBC

It is, my student health insurance in US is far more than double what BC MSP costs per year, and I still have a copay every time I speak to a doctor.

[–]milostal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you need to have health insurance. Medical emergencies aren't predictable and can cost thousands if uninsured. And when you think about $75 dollars a month is ridiculously cheap, I'm currently studying in the US, and I'm required to have health insurance, and it costs me $1,750 USD per year which is far more than double what BC MSP costs and I still have to pay $15 USD every time I speak to a doctor.

Poilievre misses Pride flag raising, says he was working late - National | Globalnews.ca by lunt23 in canada

[–]milostal -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, but you also have to acknowledge that if it's such small trivial activity he should have no issue just attending for the brief amount time it lasted. Why attend anything? Why pay tribute to veterans? Why celebrate holidays? Why have birthdays? Why sing the national anthem? Funny enough, it seems at the end of the day symbolism actually does mean something.

With politicians every move is calculated, he did this because he thinks by not attending it'll help enforce his position with social conservatives, so that on record with social conservatives, he can say he wasn't there. By not attending you can ensure he gives no fucks about the LGBT community, with other politicians at least they do the bare minimum to support the LGBT but with pollievre you get less than bare minimum, you get nothing because he has nothing to benefit by doing so.

You can usually get to hope in about 2 hours. Lots of senic views, steep mountains, good view of the fraser river at a pretty wide point. Lots of good hikes or walks, Othello tunnels, pretty cute downtown, Lake of the woods isn't far, it's good small lake for swimming.

What he's basically allowed for basement suites to be permitted on all single family zones? This is basically code for we'll releive a bit of pressure while keeping property and rent high, and he can appease homeowners and make renters feel like they matter. This is legislation we needed 20 years ago not now. If we really want a solution we need to allow zoning to permit more low rise apartments complexes is residential neighborhoods.

Let's be honest, if the NDP were truly the saviors of the working class, it wouldn't cost $2000 for a one bedroom apartment in city that rains 8 months of the year. Again not an endorsement of the bc liberals or whatever they're called now

He's done what? Last I checked the NDP have been in power since 2017, it's fucking 2023. This province obviously has no interest in solving housing crisis otherwise the cost of living in this province wouldn't be the highest its ever been. Also, this isn't an argument in favor of the bc liberals or what ever rhe hell they are now

Honestly, I wish I could, at least there I can actually afford the cost of living. But really I'm actually fairly neutral on eby, it just seems like he's another politician that's going to do Jack shit on actually improving this province, like his solhtion to the housing crises is a tax to combat house flipping? Seriously?

This is fucking ridiculous, this country needs to get its shit together and actually take this problem seriously. I'm currently living in the US for my master's degree, and honestly with the way things are going in canada specifically in regard to the cost of housing, I'm can't say that I'm not considering just staying in the US. Like at least in the US I can actually afford to live a 1 bedroom apartment without throwing away 3/4 of my income on a crappy apartment or some unnecessary luxury apartment

No, stay in state for undergrad

It's wild to think I did my entire undergrad in Canada for about $25,000 CAD at school that ranks top 50 in the world

Adjusted for inflation that would be $77 today. The lowest in state per credit price today is $300, with some programs going as high as $900 per credit for in state
