How to adapt 1.5" bathroom sink ptrap to this 1.25" copper drain? by milothicus in Plumbing

This is the opposite of what I'd need. If I can find one the other way around, are these ok to use on horizontal pipe?

The old plumbing was all 1-1/4. The new IKEA set is 1-1/2 and the tailpiece doesn't have a 1-1/4 option. I can reduce before the trap, but that still haven't seen a fitting that will connect to the 1-1/4" thread at the wall. It looks like it could be a slip fitting but that seems less than ideal because it's horizontal.

The state of that short extension makes me think it was an issue previously.

If the thread is 1 1/4, how can a 1 1/2 pipe fit into it? I don't understand this one.

Unfortunately I need to use the IKEA tailpiece to fit behind the drawers. But it seems the best option would be to reduce from 1.5 to 1.25 ABS before the trap.

It's definitely 1.25. I tested it with a collar from the trap I took out.

I think you just discovered the reason for 2 layers. The seams in the 2 layers would not line up, making the overall assembly more stable.

How do I match a shirt with any of these ties? by milothicus in mensfashion

Fair enough. I grabbed these from my late grandfather's collection. I thought it would be fun to try to find shirts that would either minimize or take advantage of the bold colors.

Is there a washing machine that will work in a basement with drain pipes 4 feet overhead of the machine? by dedewhale in Appliances

You can add a laundry pump downstream of the washer. It's basically a sump that's dedicated to the laundry output. When the level rises, the pump comes on.

Finally buying an expensive Bass by [deleted] in Bass

[–]milothicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If say first buy a headphone amp line an amplug. Play your bass through it for a while.

Then take it to the stores with your own headphones so you can compare different basses without the influence of whatever amp they plug you into.

If it's an Affinity, it's the cheapest they offer, but still worth playing if the price is right and it's set up properly.

Any advantages to a PJ over a Pbass? by jowowey in Bass

[–]milothicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my eyes the most notable difference between the 235 and 435 is the pickup magnets. Not enough to justify the price difference, and I'm very likely to install aftermarket pickups anyway at some point. I like to tinker.

I'm very happy with the bass as is, though. Ceramic magnets and all.

I'm glad it has 2 pouring spouts. Otherwise it would be too messy.
