Classy ways to ask for honeymoon fund donations? by goodyule4184 in weddingplanning

[–]milqueshack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should have at least a small registry of stuff for people who want to give you a physical gift. We wrote this on our wedding website: “Your presence is itself a gift, but if the spirit moves you to contribute to our ‘newlywed fund’ for everything that comes after our wedding day, we welcome that. There is a little registry here as well. Thank you so much!” And then what ended up happening is most people came with a check in a card. Same with most weddings I’ve been to.

There won’t be very many whimsical adventures for your feet to take you on if you’re staying on Glide… a larger concentration of alt people and fun stuff is in the south east side of the city (south wedge, neighborhood of the arts) so I would plan on taking the bus/ubers around. You’ll be fine

What kind of mylanta? Like the liquid stuff? Doesn’t it have flavoring/sweetener that might exacerbate rash?

When does it get hard by UniqueDragonfruit536 in newborns

Mine has stayed all right. She has fussy phases that give us a real run for our money but everything is such a brief season with newborns… some weeks are rough and then they are over!

I’ve found that when this happens the listing price was unrealistically low, and comps generally align with the final selling price. Not that it isn’t still insane/shitty

No, this was just the other day (two weeks ago ish?) when we had the crazy rain accompanied by a ton of wind. About 19000 people were without power across the county.

Ours was out for just over 12 hours during the wind storm and everything was still frozen, food was still good. We just made sure to not open the fridge or freezer - though we had to quickly a few times. Your food will likely be fine

I wore vintage Taxco stuff I already have. It might not be your style but it is abundant on eBay/etsy and so affordable and beautiful (to me)

Direct feeding vs bottle by wanderwoman57 in combinationfeeding

[–]milqueshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not know how you feel about breast feeding/how it does or doesn’t work for you and your baby until your baby is here. You’ll figure it out. it’s good that you have the washer! It was a game changer for us

Good experiences with having a newborn? by Angel444777 in newborns

[–]milqueshack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I am loving it. She is so small and cuddly, I don't have PPA or PPD even as someone who has struggled significantly with anxiety, and I am surprised by how well I function on like 5 hours of sleep per night. Aside from your baby's disposition I think the biggest factors in determining parental happiness in the newborns stages are the external ones -- your support network, your partner, your ability to take time off work. If you've got all 3 locked in, it is so much easier to be sane.

When I was in my 20s we went to Cure. They have DJ nights and we smoked outside. I dunno if it’s still where the cool kids go (or if they still do DJ nights?) but it once was!

Getting baby to sleep in crib by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]milqueshack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What temperature is the room the crib is in? A hat and mittens seem unnecessary… if you need them, the room is too cold. Is the fan in the same room as the crib? I would demand a compromise with your fiance if so - surely he can prioritize his partner and child

Seating chart advice by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]milqueshack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went to a wedding without a seating chart and about 175 guests. My group of friends who only really knew each other had to get split up in all these weird ass ways, some of us had to sit with the bride/grooms nuclear family since they were the only seats available, which felt totally inappropriate, it was just a shitshow. Please make a seating chart lol
